North Korea is a nuclear power : Comments

By Keith Suter, published 20/1/2022

North Korea has tested four missiles in the last two weeks. It now has a diverse nuclear arsenal, including state of the art hypersonic missiles (which travel at five times the speed of sound).

Yep all true! And we without question are in the crosshairs! And confront it with a leadership that believes we are protected by some umbrella that might as well be the Emperor's new clothes! we live in a fool's paradise lead by incompetent complacent fools and knaves.
When is the best time to remove the self imposed asinine embargo on nuclear power and weapons? Answer, twenty years ago! failing that now as if our lives and freedom depended on it and it does! And we need a space industry and new engines to power those craft. something that will move one just a tad below lightspeed.

And doable with new solid state circuitry that subverts magnetic force to overcome gravity! And very doable with the right science. And able to move planets and turn them into spacecraft able to sustain life as we know it, while moving to the edge of the universe.

What would Mr Musk pay for such and engine? If I knew how to build one and I do. Would I receive 1.5 billion for the prototype and the patent rights plus a nonrefundable 15 million for agreeing to head up such a project. Seven years is the upper known limit on life expectancy for inoperable brain cancer. Tick, tick, tick. And should I see another Christmas I will have exceeded that upper limit by a month or so.

No point breaking into my house again as the is no paper no hard drive, just my cerebral curcuits!

Alan B,

Sorry to hear about your illness and I wish you well.

North Korea is a nuclear country whose people are starving. Sanctions need to be maintained to encourage NK to relinquish their weapons.

The US also should re-establish Nukes in South Korea.

Is mentality of ignorant bullies, of which there seems to be plenty in the US administration to think that sanctions will encourage North Korea to give up their nuclear weapons. To me it is obvious there is no way they would voluntarily. The reason they developed them was to reduce the risk of another US led attempted invasion and the need to keep a large military force om standby to deter one. (Possibly while US led provocative military exercises are held nearby.) Look at the long list of countries the US has invaded under often flimsy pretexts when their governments do not conform to its demands. Nowadays as direct military action would be largely unacceptable, they use all sorts of subversive tactics including infiltrating organisations and sponsoring terrorists. Another example of bullying sanctions is against Iran, where Western powers have been trying to regain some sort of control ever since Iranians deposed their stooge The Shah in 1979. Since then Iran has built formidable conventional military defences and has been accused - probably falsely of developing nuclear weapons.

Mox,

The only reason the UN-led by the US got involved in Korea was at the request of the legitimate South Korean government request when it was invaded by communist North Korea.

Since the armistice in 1953 nearly 70 years ago the US has given no indication that it has any intention to invade NK.

NK is a prime example of communism where the paranoid regime is happy to spend $trillions on weapons it can never use while its people starve.

Mr. Thae Yong-Ho was a North Korean minister in London. He defected to South Korea in 2016. He says economic sanctions alone will not make Pyongyang give up its nuclear programmes and that nothing short of military means will be effective.
