UFOs are no longer taboo : Comments

By Keith Suter, published 3/8/2021

Professor Alexander Wendt (University of Ohio) is one of the US's leading theorists in International Relations. Over a decade ago he called for the lifting of the taboo on UFOs as a subject for academic research.

*...people who were not getting meaning from religion were vulnerable to deficits in meaning and these deficits inclined them to search for non-traditional sources of meaning. Why ETI beliefs in particular? Part of the reason religion gives life meaning is it helps us feel connected to something bigger and more enduring, that we are not here by chance. ETI beliefs do not typically contain a traditional belief in a creator, but they do suggest that we are not alone in the universe. And intelligent aliens are often construed as agents watching over us. A lot of specific ETI beliefs involve being part of a cosmic brotherhood. And ETI beliefs seem, on the surface, more scientific as they do not typically invoke the supernatural. This makes them more palatable to atheists...*

lifted from a 2017 study of 1,146 undergraduate students (I’d assume the cohort of gender bender believers), examined the psychological motivation behind believing that UFOs are spacecraft from other worlds...

The atheists are unravelling.

First of all, I've seen one and had a number of witnesses confirm what I saw.

Second of all, there're more stars in the night sky than all the grains of sand on all the beaches of the world. And there could be billions of earth-type planets orbiting billions of them? And on any one of them, life forms that are centuries more advanced than we?

Third of all, I believe I could design a starcraft with a practical hyperdrive able to achieve speeds just a tad slower than the speed of light. Others are experimenting on a practical warp drive? Which could allow mankind to travel to any part of the Milky Way in perhaps hours or even other galaxies?

If we could do it? What could other more advanced, older life forms do? And may have been monitoring us for literal centuries, as one might study bugs?

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero.

Don't panic.

Alan B,
Look no further for an Astronaut, Paul1405 would jump at the opportunity to tell the Universe how racist we are !

So we have an article which highlights how much the disconnect between reality and conspiracy theories has exploded under Trump.

All the films released have been thoroughly explained by many people. Mick West is probably one of those at the forefront of this but there are many others.

However there is a part of us all who are kind of reticent in becoming the fun police on stuff like this. What's the harm we think. Unfortunately disbelief in global warming, vaccine scepticism, belief in widespread voter fraud tipping an election go hand in hand with this craziness.

They are hardly strange bedfellows are they.

Dear mhaze,

Posting stuff from others without quotation marks or attribution is something from memory you have pulled Foxy up on but here you are doing it with gay abandon. Why is it okay for you to do it and not others?
