This is a commendable and well balanced article by Kamal Fadel. The peaceful and mature approach of the Western Saharan people must be acknowledged by giving them the right to self-determination.

This is a classic example of how it is NOT 'religion' which causes wars, (usually) .. its RESOURCES.. here we have a number of Muslim nations seeking control of another muslim group, purely for the sake of territory, resources and prestige one must assume. Possibly tribal/racial factors are involved also.
Even the Catholic/Protestant issues in Northern Ireland were not basically about 'religion' they were about sovereignty and job opportunities. Hope the Western Sahara peoples manage to achieve independance, who knows, might be a nice place to visit someday. Posted by BOAZ_David, Saturday, 3 September 2005 5:52:13 PM

This is a classic example of how arabs deny self determination to other peoples. Who are the arabs to whine about what the Palestinians have and haven't got after starting and losing 4 wars. There are other longer peoples who have suffered a much greater oppression, my own people the Cornish suffered a genocide of which 25% of our people were murdered by Sir Anthony Kingston and other Anglo supremacists in the 1550s. Today Cornwall is the poorest region of north western Europe- the people reduced to summer serfs of the hooray henrys of the south east.

Well then again, all oyuhave to do is read the following report about the so called polisario:
http://www.esisc.org/THE%20POLISARIO%20FRONT.pdf Also, Morocco's people have by far a majority of indigenous "berbers" (75%), the polisario on the other hand would like to "create" the SADR, supposedly Sahrawi "Arab" Democratic Republic, big words for an organization that is lead for 30 years by the same man... 1- Sahrawi: they don't represent the majority sahrawis, they are only 90000 in the camps.. 2- Arab, true they are, they emigrated a long time ago from the middle, same goes for many moroccan families. 3- Democratic?? Give me a break, read the report... 4- Republic?? More like a cuban republic... The polisario sent thousands of kids to the "Isle of youth" in cuba against the will of their own parents. They were subjected there to pure communist propaganda. Many of them escaped by the way, their testimonies are available on the internet for the world to see. Some never heard again about their families... Posted by ayoub7, Thursday, 22 March 2007 11:18:30 AM
