By Binoy Kampmark, published 2/6/2021

For Hungary's Viktor Orbán, migration has been an opportunity to make valuable enemies and court new friends.

And this affects Australia, how?

Hi ttbn,

Hungary is a great example for us to follow.

They welcome "white flight" or middle class, white migrants who are escaping the multi culti hell holes that many European nations have become.

G'day to you. I didn't read the article - very rarely do because I find Benny Backpack's pieces usually irrelevant to me and to Australia. I'm not an isolate when it comes to international affairs, but I think we have enough problems here without poring over foreign events over which we have no control. Of course, now, our current shower of politicians are out of our control as well.

Agree to some extent ttbn, but sometimes History can repeat itself
in another location.
A lot of criticism of Hungary does not take into account that Hungary
was occupied by the Ottomans from 1541 to 1699.
These things generally generate long memories.
The Jews are a classical case of that.

Bazz,

Hungary certainly has had some bad times. Makes you glad we waited for the "New World". No ancient gripes. Most immigrants see to leave the Old World hatreds behind them.

Once again, Binoy Kampmark writes a spray bemoaning the fact that there are some western leaders who are smart enough to not allow their country to commit social self suicide by importing hordes of aggressive and social problem causing Muslims into his country.

I think what Binoy really wants is for the entire white race to be diluted through immigration and birth rate differentials, right out of existence. And then he and his socialist comrades may then get the socialist paradise in Europe they all hanker for.

Hungary and the ruling govt. are a good example of what has gone wrong with 'conservatives' wrapping themselves in flags, conspiracy theories and rewarding graft.

There is a circle of top companies and/or business people being rewarded with EU funds while diverting attention with the Soros conspiracy, both anti-semitic and Islamophobic, and related dog whistling of EU (though majority of citizens support it), immigrants, educated youth etc.

Very relevant to Australia as Tony Abbott is on friendly terms with Viktor Orban, and like Greg Sheridan, Alexander Downer and Kevin Andrews who have also visited, attended a conference on families, conservative values and Christianity (one suspects much Russian influence on same conservative Christian groups).....

While the vaccine roll out, like Australia, was supposed to be part of an election campaign, not all is going to plan, especially with no less than one third of govt. supporters complaining about Fudan University and a health system near collapse.

For now the ruling party can be thankful to sub-optimal freedom of speech, nobbled media, stacked judiciary, emigration of youth/working age and 'managed' higher education, while relying upon ageing regional and gerrymandered electorates for power.

Fast forward, withstanding a demographic death spiral, preceded by tax and budgetary issues, the population will be smaller and dominated by these of Roma heritage (due to political agitprop precluding formal immigration), which is not the nativist plan :)

Hi Andras Smith:- i hear where you are coming from, but corrupt leftists are even worse than corrupt rightists.

Politics is about voting for the least worst option & leftism is the worst option in world history.

Your statement defies reality 'i hear where you are coming from, but corrupt leftists are even worse than corrupt rightists.'

Hungary, like Australia does not have a left govt. except for city councils (like state govt.), but you have no issue with corruption of the right, while anti-semitism and Islamophobia abounds making them look like losers afraid of confected issues transmitted by conservative media monopoly.....

Much like the mentality of many in less developed nations who have been conditioned to look up to and respect authority of conservatives and related e.g. Christianity, tribalism or feudalism and autocracy, then avert their gaze from same unethical and immoral leadership i.e. corruption and autocracy.

Think many Australian conservatives are 'captured' and are also afraid of power on their own side..... e.g. LNP MPs <-> NewsCorp.

Hi Andras Smith, You have been "captured" by propaganda from the CCP, or Chinese Communist Party of Australia. Otherwise known as the Labor-Green, Socialist Alliance with Communist China & the most evil organisation in world history.

Australia's constitution was written by freedom loving, conservative christians for freedom loving, conservative christians.

Love it, or leave...

If you don't like conservative, christian freedom & democracy? Then by all means move to Venezuela, North Korea, China or some other leftist authoritarian hell hole.

Rightism = Freedom & Democracy or Liberterianism or Classical Liberalism.

Leftism = Authoritarianism or Serfdom or Slavery. It's that simple.
