Micromanaged, controlled, sterile, the city state was always going to be seen as a model for combating the spread of SARS-CoV-2.

Here's the thing, we need to some say, reopen the borders to foreign workers? Why? Because they can't get Aussies to do those jobs?

Why? Because they can't hack heatwave conditions that would result in many cases of heatstroke? But more than that, the wages are just slave labour wages in so many instances and some industries are rife with wages theft and take it or leave it, substandard accommodation.

Then there is payroll tax and company tax! And all too often an energy bill that is higher than the wages bill! And made so by the passengers it asked to carry as investor drones demand higher returns and capital gains. Assisted by deaf, dumb and blind pollies dancing to the donor's tune and that of vested interest/ foreign investors.

We need mobile shade and cooling innovation in heatwave harvesting to ensure the workers can complete a full days work and we need to lift accommodation standards to that we'd visit on our own rallies/kids.

And if we need more skills, let's train up local talent to employ our own!

Foreign workers, we've needed just suppress needed wages growth? And allow labour-hire companies to rip off folk who don't know what the award rate is or what the minimum wage rate is. Clued-in Aussies are not going to touch that!

Covid and the required border closures has lifted some blindfolds and comfortable complacency. People need to be able to earn a decent wage, so that being required to take 2-3 weeks off is no longer an impossible ask! And it never ever should have been!

We need to embrace cooperative capitalism to ensure those we ask to earn all our wealth for us! Have some incentivising skin in the game! And we need lower energy, tax and transport costs that are very doable if we remove/ignore the aforementioned special vested interest etc!

I don't think we need a wages growth, what we need is a salaries reduction ! After all, it's all about balance. Higher wages only push up undeserved salaries !
Qantas realised that now with their 2-year salaries/wages freeze.
Alan Joyce for manager of Australia perhaps ?
