We are certainly the most arrogant species which is causing us to self destruct.

The obvious precaution is to preserve the obvious things that have kept us relatively safe from this pandemic: low population and our island status. If we get back to the high immigration the politicians are eager to restart, we will eventually end up just like other overpopulated countries. The China virus came to us via people unnecessarily allowed to cross our borders. Stricter controls on overseas travel by Australians are needed as well.

Well, many of the for want of a more apt description, human species fall into that category.
The most selfish are usually condemning those who pander to their excessive wants.
