India remains the most cautious participant. Its foreign policy harks back to the days of non-alignment maintained during the Cold War.

It will do more good than harm. Good to see that New Zealand isn't involved; they are on a par with PNG.

A pretty good article.

Like NATO contained/contains Russia the Quad is there to contain China.

The Quad is a worthy cause, because Australia cannot face an aggressive China alone.

And if the US returns to trumpist isolationism we can hedge our bets with Indian and Japanese allied support.

The biggest problem with 'The Quad' is that it relies entirely on all four being committed and especially relies on the US military being available.

But given that the US is now governed by people who are at the very least pro-China and at worst are owned by China, its unclear that that corner of the Quad is even vaguely reliable

Did you see on the news today where people in Myanmar are attacking Chinese migrants who they now see as a danger to their freedom?

The same would probably happen in Australia if there is a war and reports come in of Chinese sinking Australian ships or killing Australian soldiers.

I have been saying for years that we should send the Chinese migrants back to China. Now it's too late; the horse has bolted and the enemy is already inside the gate.

I'l never forget when Andrew Forrest marched his CCP mate into Greg Hunt's press interview and got him up on the podium to deliver a message from Xi.
