I’ve always believed from observation, the best government is one that does nothing. There the Government’s that do the least damage.

LEGO,
I can identify with your situation re the Goaf. All on track with flying lessons but as soon as he & his useless outfit cost us our employment, the flying training too went out the window by '75..
Btw whilst scuba diving around the Jervis Bay area, we occasionally talked with Navy pilots who told us 'if you blokes knew how many sharks we see near your boats you wouldn't get in the water'. Perhaps Hasbeen was one of them in about '73 ?
Anyhow, I was driving down towards Huskisson one day when I stopped for a hitch-hiker. I asked him what he was up to etc & when I enquired what he did for a living he replied "Nothing, who wants to work when you can get the dole". Needless to say, I encouraged him to get out of my car & keep walking !
Youth unemployment is only high now because everything is about going to UNI. None of the pro-sociaistl experts ever bring up apprenticeships, it's all about students with them. The economy is stifled by so many students, many of whom never get to a stage where they are of benefit to society.. The few who do get so handsomely rewarded that the useless ones keep slipping under the radar in their shadow.

That's a very pseudo-intellectual statement you just made.

Not me individual, I'd been a civilian for about 10 years by then, although I know what they were talking about.

I used to remember seeing so many sharks swimming about every time I went into the water
