Correction of the auto-correction. Naive should read native!
Grammarly is good but a little fast off the mark and not as helpful as it could be, if it eliminated its soulless, automated, unique marketing model!

Working simply with the KISS theory, if it's hardware you need, visit the smaller hardware chains.

You can take advantage of Bunnings without being a patron, by capitalising on the competition they create in hardware retail.
But there are plenty of options that compete on their level, and actually do better.

In the end, Bunnings are not cheap, although some of their products are simply cheap and nasty, giving the "impression they are.

Although a franchise system 'Mitre 10' is owned by Metcash which is majority controlled by South Africa's Metro Cash & Carry, which holds some 72 percent of Metcash shares. Woolworths tried to copy Bunnings with their 'Masters' hardware stores, they would have been better off calling them 'Disasters' hardware, because that's what they were, a disaster!

Thanks, Mark for explaining how Bunnings have been hypocritical in banning Victorian hardwood timber from their stores, while still selling large volumes of rainforest timber from threatened species in SE Asia.

Bunnings have pretty well managed to push out most competition especially in metro Melbourne and larger regional centres.

They are good on hardware, but their timber is not the tradies' choice - if they have a choice. Many small plant nurseries have also been put out of business - I can count several in the E suburbs of Melbourne.

Boycotting Bunnings is not so easy to do in many places. However, using your checkout receipt you can register displeasure of their action to boycott Victorian hardwood. The receipt says feedback is welcome at www.bunnings.com.au/haveyoursay.
