By Don Aitkin, published 25/6/2020

Each time there was a sharp increase in enrolments there was a corresponding claim that higher education was in 'crisis' again.

There's only one crisis with Unis, hardly any education but plenty of indoctrination !

Mr opinion, nothing wrong with using the rules legally to obtain a desired outcome. Im sure you claim all your allowances on your tax each year. Do you call that "manipulation"? I stand by my comment, these students are here primarily to obtain a Western degree, of course they will then use that degree to further their careers here or anywhere else. If there is any "manipulation" going on its the business migration scheme which is being rorted and being rorted easily.

Misopin ionated,

I live a fairly sheltered life, so I'm not really aware of any immigrants being exploited as cheap labour, apart from the scams such as 7/11 underpaying their workers, etc. Perhaps you can elaborate.

And can you differentiate between the huge variety of East, South, Central and South-East Asians ? I had a good Chinese mate at school in Darwin I and asked him, when the Japanese companies were breaking up the wrecks in the harbour, if he could tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese - he shrugged and said, no.

So presumably, you can differentiate between them and Korean, Vietnamese, Filipino, Thai, Burmese, Assamese, Uighur, Malay, Hazara, Kazakh and/or Indonesian ?

It's quite amazing what one can learn in environmental sociology ....
