an unavoidable 15% flat tax would not only collect more revenue,
Alan B,
yes & it would stimulate local economy to no end. Why can't our 'educated' people see that ?
Perhaps we should try less educated people to run the Nation, we'd more than likely be much better off !

Individual, you may have a point.
The world has promoted academia as the be all, end all, of the upper levels of society and THE gauge by which to judge achievements and high achievers.
It has become patently clear to those who have been paying attention, that more and more these people have been taking advantage of whatever their position in life is.
Many people have come to mis-trust and even hate these educated types as they are seen to be the problem rather than (as they believe) the cure.
The likes of Hanson and Trump are scoffed at because of their faults and flaws, but ignore their attributes and ideals.
I have always said I would rather a mature, pragmatic guy at the helm of any entity, even govt.
But instead people keep electing the biggest con-men and snake oil salesman because they get sucked in by the BS and PC lies delivered oh so charismatically.
The truth is the sheeple are simply NOT equipped, with either the IQ or the EQ to make the right decisions, and never is it more obvious than when they vote.
So yes Indy, it has become patently clear that you could be right, and maybe we would be better off with less educated people to run the Nation!

While I agree with a lot of what you are saying about universities, I believe you are missing one major point.

Apart from selling lots of useless paper to Chinese "students", universities have found their niche in giving tickets to a job in the bureaucracy with their meaningless humanities courses. As the last thing university elite want is an educated smart bureaucracy, they simply indoctrinate, rather than educate the people on whom they get their hands. Thus we get a bureaucracy trained to service the elites & themselves exclusively.

This is obvious if you look at the global warming scam, designed to get the peasantry out of their cars & big comfortable homes. Such a life style for peasants is an insult to the elites, who never intended such luxury to become general. Just look at the living conditions for most in cities like London, Paris or New York if you doubt this. Of course the elite want those people back on the bus, & out of private cars.

We have a chance now, if we can stop government from propping up the sector, now brought to it's knees by the coronavirus induced loss of Chinese students. With a little bit of luck, [in the words of the song], half will go broke.
