State governments are setting the (park) bench too high : Comments

By Sonia Bowditch, published 7/4/2020

Looking more generally, it seems that the state governments’ powers in relation to coronavirus management are growing by the day.

Not all state governments. The South Australian government, which, since its election has generally been of the dropkick variety, has, in relation to the China virus, performed very well, as low infection rates have shown. The most incompetent and totalitarian of all has been NSW; but the inhabitants have been pretty stupid when it comes to the simple rules of social distancing and voluntary isolation. Still, what sort of signal have they had from the government's appalling incompetence regarding the Ruby Princess.

Victoria needs a special mention for thumping a 17 year old with a $1600 fine taking a driving lesson with her mother. The idiot assistant Police Commissioner responsible for the the officious cop said that the lesson would have been OK if they had done an 'approved' trip to buy food - where one or both of them would have left the car with the risk of infecting or being infected; something that would not occur if they were let alone to remain sealed inside the vehicle with no contact with anyone.

Australians generally respect, even like, our police. I wonder how long that will last after incidents like this? Once this sort of Marxist fascism is let loose it is very hard to get rid of.

I'm confused as to why the situation of an instructor and learner driver wouldn't be classified under "working".

NO, THEY'RE NOT!

But for this effective action, we could be New York!

The opposite of effective action was the Keystone cop debacle in relation to allow hundreds of Ruby Princesses passengers to disembark without so much as temperature or baggage checks!? And has allowed hundreds of casualties as the first visible consequence.

I get that young folk think they are bulletproof, resent having to operate like good responsible citizens, even as they drive around concrete roadblocks to deliver their illicit drugs or whatever, that makes flouting the law/social responsibility their personal imperative!

Thee are some hard times and hard lessons ahead for a generation that has never seen a world war or a Great Depression, never had to make do or go without! Tie it up with wire to keep the show on the road, cook food in/on a wood stove or camp oven or open fire.

Had it all handed to them as if it was their divine right, be it underage booze or party drugs or worse? And now wants to give the one-finger salute to the very folk all but breaking their balls to keep them safe.

Go home and get a book and read it, would be a good start instead of whining and griping about the absolutely essential shutdown!

Left to me?

Would be closed at a shire level, tighter than a fish's fundamental, to prevent the out of towners from their mass migration and their fights for the last roll of toilet tissue etc-etc!
Take care and stay safe! AT HOME!

Going insane after a week of voluntary incarceration?

Remedy! Read a book. Could do worse than, highly rated, easy reading, Thorium, Super Fuel, subtitled, green energy.

Any teacher who does not want to turn up at school & do the job we pay them for should be immediately stood down on unpaid leave.

Any academic who will not attend his university & teach the Chinese students they lobbied the government to let into the country should be immediately dismissed & never be allowed a university position again.

With any luck we could reduce the extremely blotted university sector by half or more, giving some advantage from this virus debrcle.
