By Binoy Kampmark, published 7/1/2020The justification was spurious, suggesting that assassination and killing in combat are not distinctions with any difference.

Ateday .
Should we consider then, Salman Rushdie as a "reverse" case in point? This is close to year thirty, the Iranians have pursued his assassination. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=42iV2U_nsfY The final point to remember is the particular nature of Donald Trump to relish "skin in the game". Personally, that is what I most admire about Uncle Donald. His propensity to take risks, and to "stump-up". Dan. Posted by diver dan, Tuesday, 7 January 2020 11:51:41 AM

Agree.
And self evidently designed for one purpose? To create a state of emergency that would allow a president to stay on until it ended and during which time he would, I believe, wield enormous unfettered, personal power!? Even if that leads to a war with thousands of American military casualties!? Or far worse!? We have a veritable arsenal of world-destroying weaponry! Alan B. Once again, ladies and gentlemen, once again. Binoy Kampmark goes into bat for the enemies of his adopted country instead of supporting Australia's greatest ally. This only goes to prove to Australia's Deplorables that immigration is inimitable to the interests of Australia as it obviously ensures the entry of undesirables and enemy sympathisers into our country.
Everything which Trump did has been correct and measured. He withdrew from the US-Iran deal which did nothing to stop the Iranians from continuing to try and build a nuclear weapon, which they will give to terrorists when they get one. Obama's idiotic decision to return $100 billion dolars in seized Iranian funds did nothing more than fatten the mullah's Swiss bank accounts while giving them billions with which to fund terrorism around the Middle East. For too long, the Iranian mullahs have pulled the tigers tail thinking that the unwillingness of the US to respond was proof that they could not only continue, but escalate. They have put limpet mines on tankers entering and exiting the Gulf, shot down a $200 million dollar US drone operating in Internatioanl airspace, and launched crude but effective cruise missiles from Iranian Quods/Hezbollah bases inside of Iraq. But the one thing that Trump made clear was that if they targeted Americans, the US would respond. That is exactly what the US did when the smeared Solemeini and his entourage all over Baghdad airport. The mongrel was planning attacks against US diplomats and one US citizen had already been killed by Solemeini's mercenary thugs. Solemeini was actively pallning the attacks to kill Americans and that made him a legitimate military target Now the ball is back in Iranian mullah's court and despite acting like the idiots they are and vowing revenge, beating their chests, accidently killing 50 of Solemenei's mourners at his funeral (good riddance), they are pretty well checkmated. Any more provocations towards US assets in the Persian Gulf will undoubtedly be met with lethal response by US forces. Posted by LEGO, Wednesday, 8 January 2020 7:35:53 AM

The post above by LEGO basically just pushes more extreme obnoxious views of the situation than overall those reported by the Western Mainstream media, which largely peddles what banksters, corporations and the military industrial complex want believed. It is important for our Federal politicians especially to keep an eye in alternative news sources now readily accessable thanks to the Internet so they do not get sucked into supporting objectionable policies and actions of the US just because they are an ally as has sometimes happened in the past. Note much of the most scathing criticism comes from well informed people who have been in high positions in the US
General Soleimani has been regarded as a national hero in Iran for his role in the military opposing US hegemony. Regarding his allegedly being responsible for deathe of US military personnel, remember it has been effectively defensive against invaders. Not aggression as the US is guilty of. His assassination, was most likely pushed on behalf of supporters of what amounts the Criminal Apartheid Zionist Settler State in Occupied Palestine. Looking at the circumstances, it was a serious International criminal offence as General Soleimani was partly in Iraq doing a diplomat type job. As well as attending the funeral of about 30 Iraqi soldiers murdered by the US on a very flimsy pretext. A sort of precedent it set: Many may now regard it as acceptable to retaliate by targeting a US senior politician or senior official using a drone as they entered or left an airport. Note Iran has managed to acquire advanced drone capabilities. Seems murdering General Soleimani may have largely the opposite long term effect to those intended. Apparently there have been over 70 protests against it in the US alone and it almost certainly will encourage Arab countries to try and push the US and hasten its departure. MOX's worldview is typical of those who seek inverted logic, off planet explanations as to how the world really works. Iran is the good guy and the USA the bad guy. Israel is the bad guy for continuing to exist, while the whole damned Islamic world which is nothing but trouble, and which has not contributed anything to human advancement in 1400 years, (other than the invention of the suicide bomber) are the good guys.
It just goes to show how far people are prepared to sublimate their capacity for reasoned logic in order to satisfy their compulsive need to think that they are better than everybody else. Or perhaps MOX bows to Mecca when he prays? That would explain a lot. If that is so, MOX, here is something for you and your failed religion to consider. The "Great Satan" has invented. The electric light bulb, the internet, emails, telephones, supermarkets, neon lights, Morse code and the telegraph, virtual reality, aeroplanes, washing machines, nuclear reactors, silicon computer chips, personnel computers, sunscreen, nylon, electric motors, liquid crystal displays, transistors, elevator lifts and escalators, penicillin, genetic engineering, assembly lines, contraceptives, solar cells, bakelite, mobile phones, ATM's, electric irons, tampons, microwave ovens, Viagra, satellite communications, pacemakers, jeans, frozen food, Kevlar, air bags, IV fertilization, vending machines, fiberglass, laundromats, integrated circuits, refrigeration, air conditioning, LED's, video games, CAT scans, toilet paper, animation, defibrillators, and most importantly of all, canned beer. Please post, for OLO's benefit, anything that the Iranians have ever invented in the last 1400 years that has any benefit to the human race? How about anything the Iranians sell to the world beyond Persian carpets and of course oil, which they never had much use for or benefitted financially from, until the western world invented the internal combustion engine and plastics? The USA invented the oil wells and the drill bits that that the Iranians now use to pump the oil from the oil fields and refineries that they stole from the USA and Britain. LEGO just seems to blindly support "US exceptionalism" regarding those from the US who seem to think that when it suits them, they do not necessarily have to conform to generally accepted standards of behaviour. Including often being the first to breach agreements others make with them in good faith. One example here is the deal regarding Iran not developing nuclear capabilities. Then we also have some Jews - from Israel especially who behave assuming they are "the chosen ones" and have little conscience regarding doing dirty things to "goyim" or non Jews. Including from friendly countries. Google for information on the USS Liberty incident for info on an all time classic story regarding this.
LEGO could not present a logical argument against points I posted so first resorted to the old name calling type trick against me. Including insinuating I am some sort of Muslim fanatic when actually conscientious atheist. Then went of on an irrelevant rant claiming the US invented all sorts of things and Iranians nothing or very little, which somehow justifies treating them as inferiors. However, I saw a comment recently from a bloke who reckoned among the smartest people he had come across in US universities were Iranians. Note details of the strike Iran made against a US military base and airport as retaliation fot the cold blooded murder of General Soleimani and those with him including an Iraqi military leader. Basically a precision strike from a country with highly developed missile capabilities which seems no attempt was made to intercept. Also, apparently Iran gave enough notice through Swiss and Traquis to allow US personnel to get into bunkers and minimise casualties. Is important to remember the US Has long been a major threat to Iran trying to impose its will over the government and people using all sorts of dirty tricks. Basically all Iranians want is to stop them Meanwhile, Iran has virtually no capability to threaten the US from its own "backyard." However, the latest retaliation indicates it is now a strong power regarding defending itself. Posted by mox, Friday, 10 January 2020 2:00:53 PM
