The Indian mind-set of yesteryears is rapidly changing. A set of young blooded entrepreneurs are on the business stage and it is definitely the right time for Australian companies to look towards doing business with India. Other than Cricket, the plusses or commonalities in favour of the two nations would be the fact that both nations are Democracies, have similar laws based on English Common Law, excellent judicial systems, a sizeable English speaking population. The media can play a big role to encourage Australian companies to do business with India rather than only showing India's negatives most of the time. Indians are very hospitable people and suffer no traces of Xenophobia having seen many many settlers from different parts of the world for several centuries. Australian companies I would suggest must consider having on their team Indians living in Australia who could advise about the present business climate in India and about Indian culture before they leave for India to scout for business possibilities. This will prepare them adequately and help remove any preconceived notions that could be a detriment to doing excellent business in India.
