We stand almost alone as the only nation not having thirty year, self-terminating, govt. guaranteed tax-free investment bonds.

Massively overdue good policy would see our 2.5 trillion dollar super fund invested here, as that occurs, leverage another 2 trillion from elsewhere. Just need a few visionary projects our pollies are not capable of actually conceiving, let alone implementing.

When they self evidently, only see their task as managing a shrinking budget, retaining power/selling/privatising anything not nailed down!? Projects that could be funded, include very rapid rail down the eastern seaboard.

Numerous, nuclear waste burning MSR thorium power projects! High rise low-cost rental housing, with a projected useful eighty-year life span! Massive deionisation dialysis desalination projects done on a large enough scale to not only drought-proof the nation but turn massive swathes of our arid desert heartland, into our most productive heartland.

To that end, assisted by the creation of a multi-purpose multi-income stream earner, inland canal that links northern tidal flows to Lake Erie and keeps it/other former salt pans permanently full/routinely flushed by huge northern tides/tidal flow complementing lock gates that optimise that flow so as to allow shipping to move in/out with that assisting flow.

That flow would also be a brand new source of perpetually available water in our dry desert heartland where we would site both most of the new MSR power and space-age desal plants! In long overdue, pragmatic tax reform and the joint would become the Shangri-La destination of most of the high tech manufacturers of the world/a tidal tsunami of fully cashed up, self-funded retirees!

The latter would have to have adequate personal health insurance/make far better use of our massively underutilized, private healthcare/hospitals.

One recalls how Q'ld, went from economic strength to strength when Joh repealed death duties/saw a veritable tidal wave of retirees coming here with their pension cheques as billions of extra discretionary spending etc-etc.

Internationally sourced, would also bring with them a massive boost for the unskilled service industry and jobs, jobs, jobs!

Self-funded cashed-up retirees could be directed to newer less populated areas and assist development and housing sales etc. by int of increased demand across the local economy.

Once they have finished with it their housing could be added to the national estate and first home buyers looking for affordable options. No reason why such a program ever needs to shut down. they never ever permanently boost the total population but add additional demand and jobs, in the unskilled sector mostly.

As tempory residents well past childbearing age and with adequate personal health insurance! They would not permanently boost population numbers. But could become the very vehicle we need to create several new (Gold Coast) self-sustaining, self-regenerating cities where we want them!

They would not add to the burden of our publically funded health or education sector! But would need to rescind their former citizenship and swear allegiance to us/ours. Moreover, migrating high tech manufacturers would have to bring the HQ and full tax liabilities here with them as an absolutely non-negotiable part of the migration deal.

Cooperative capitalism as the preferred partnership business model for all new enterprise would massively improve the wealth creation prospects for Mr and Mrs Joe average. Far-far better than just selling all our economic opportunities for a song to foreigners would add very little save a few jobs and their profit demands.

Only made possible due to the control wielded by breathtakingly stupid (control freak) idealogues!
