If Annikka Smethurst's article was so unimportant why did it take so long to go looking for the whistleblower or why even bother. They must have little to do with their time and waste taxpayers money. As for the source of the ABC story, there were probably several sources for that story from amongst the ranks for a start.

Thanks. You make a good point about Wikileaks' operations favouring Russia's (and also China's) positions in the world.

As you say Wikileaks document dumps are repeatedly aimed at western DEMOCRACIES - to the tune of around 10 million confidential documents published (see first paragraph of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WikiLeaks ).

Wikileaks in contrast has published very few documents revealing Russia's and China's vicious human rights abuses. Now why is that?

Ex CIA/NSA agent Edward Snowden forms a franchise of Wilileaks. He defected to Russia with many 1,000s of western Top Secret documents which he published in 2013 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WikiLeaks#2011%E2%80%932015 via Wikileaks with the permission of Russian intelligence. Russia still looks after Snowden.

Well researched and well argued Pete! Take my hat off to you on this effort mate.

Snowden is clearly a worse grub and sellout than Assange, on the basis that he, like others, placed his hand on a holy book and swore a sacred oath to keep state secrets secret!

And ought to have gone to his grave with those secrets and trust, undivulged and unviolated!

A man is only as good as his spoken word and in Snowden's case that Grub's word is not worth the paper it is written on and may even place hundreds or thousands of innocent lives in harm's way or forfeit?

Such is the whim and caprice of madmen led communist states who are apt to seek revenge on/murder the children's children if they can't get to/at their own heroic resistance fighters!?

And the reason why these extremely unremarkable R soles need to have their day in court and in complete transparency, stand accused and justly tried for any and all alleged crimes!

And the very (do the crime, do the time) outcome that terrifies these same R Soles!

How to Be a Spy in Australia.

1. Immigrate to Australia from China, North Korea, Iran, or Russia.
2. Call yourself a journalist.
3. Gather as much information as you can about Australia's negligible, or almost non existent, defence capabilities.
4. When caught, demand immunity because you are a journalist or a "whistleblower."

There are whistleblowers & then there are morons who cause nothing but trouble !
