Will Venezuela be Trump's first war? : Comments
By Keith Suter, published 14/2/2019Getting rid of Maduro would be a step in the right direction (such as by encouraging him to retire to Cuba). But the next leader will still have immense economic problems to sort out.

I don't think it will come to war, it looks like the population is sick and tired of incompetent socialists running their country, and with even army generals are starting to defect the writing is on the wall for Muduro.

Possibly? After all, Venezuela has the largest oil reserves! And anybody with half a brain knows what that means to America's corporations (leaders) and their (yes men) political puppets?
Moreover, Emporer Trump doesn't know from one minute to the next what Emporer Trump will decide or claim as true or false? Just depends on the audience and political convenience? And let's not mention the possible billions in it for whomsoever? Alan B. Posted by Alan B., Thursday, 14 February 2019 10:32:07 AM

If you interfere in a civil war, you only prolong it.

Maduro is the democratically elected president of The country. Thee last election was fair and transparent, documented by an international election body which oversees elections as well as as documented by the country’s opposition election monitors. The puppet who is attempting a coup is financially backed by Trump, Bolton, and Pompeo. The US has been attempting ‘regime’ change for nearly 15 years.
Additionally, the US has placed enormously damaging financial saction on their government, including withholding over $6b of Venezuela oil revenue and stopping the country from repatriation of its gold reserves from the Bank of England. This is the prime reason behind the inability of the democratically elected government being able to finance its health, welfare and other domestic policies. To make matters worse the Australian government has backed the US and other vassal countries in recognising a person who did not run in the most recent election as a candidate and who does not represent the majority of people in this independently democratic nation. We should be ashamed of our government and those others who flout international law all in the name of subjugating a free people and stealing their resources, primarily in this case oil. Nothing unusual for the yanks, yet again. You would think 18 years of losses in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Yemen would be enough, but oh no, let’s just try it one more time and see if we can get it right. God help em. I sure hope the USA does not do the right thing and remove those bumbling, incompetent socialists in Venuzuela, who managed to take the richest country in South America and turn it into a bankrupt basket case. I want Maduro and his clan to stay in power and let Venezuela continue to be an ongoing object lesson to anybody stupid enough to vote for socialists. Socialists who promise utopia but deliver only catastrophe.
"Democratic Socialism" means "One man, one vote, once." Although, perhaps Maduro has evolved from a Socialist into a Communist? After all, a "Socialist" is defined as a "Communist without gun." And Maduro's boys have plenty of guns. And they are using them. What Venezuela needs is another General Pinochet of Chile, to sweep away these socialist idiots and bring democracy back to the Venezuelan people, who were stupid enough to vote for the tyrants who took democracy away from them. The Left can then spend the next fifty years bemoaning how their "popular, democratically elected" hero Maduro was overthrown by a horrible, US backed dictator. At least Chile has learned it's lesson about socialism and the Chileans have not been stupid enough to vote in any more socialists since. It's a pity that the people in the USA cheering on Bernie Sanders and in the UK cheering in Jeremy Corbin are not as smart as the Chileans. I think it is just great that China and Russia are backing Maduro. If they want that idiot, they can have him. One bunch of socialist totalitarians backing up another. When they look at what is happening in Venezuela, with Madoro's thugs shooting down protestors in the streets, even our western neo socialists must feel like Christian Scientists with appendicitis. Oh yes the sort of marxism that our uni's and national broadcasters have worshipped and promoted. No doubt they will continue with their pig headed destruction.

TRUMP the MAFIOSO - SO WHAT? I don't see what the fuss is about.
What is good for America Business INC is good for American foreign policy, comprehendi? The American Mafia was a business proposition that Cuba shouldn't have refused [1]. So Cuba deserved what happened. Trump is about as close to an American Mafioso (womanizing "do you know who I am", casinos [2]. Russian/Putin Mafia loans) as a President can get, to be elected into Office. If Trump Inc has business interests in Venezuela then Trump and Stormy Daniel's [3] privacy Will be respected. Might a SEAL Team visit to Venezula fix the Venezuelan leadership problem? Just like the SEALs fixed Panama's leadership problem [4]? plantagenet,
you seemed obsessed with Trump's former sex life. Have you explored Bill and Hillary's as well or is it just your hatred of the man that has caused you to be so obsessive. Posted by runner, Thursday, 14 February 2019 4:54:52 PM

The lefties are again as per usual conspicuous by their refraining from commenting on failures of their beliefs.

Keith's essay is most noticeable for its superficial analysis of the situation in Venezuela.
I much prefer the analysis of the behind the scenes applied politics leading up to the situation in Venezuela featured in this essay: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/51081.htm And all of the other essays featured at the end of this essay too. God! Sorry runner.
But wasn't it Trump's own gran-daidy who owned brothel? Seriously here are some Trump Jokes: Nick Hall After being advised to put trade tariffs on China and aluminium, Donald Trump said he’d heard of China. But then Trump said "which continent is Aluminium on?" After the Roosevelt Room and the Lincoln Bedroom, Donald Trump says his favourite room in the White House is the Oval Office. He thinks that President Oval was a ‘really really great President.’ After visiting Canada for a meeting of the G7, Donald Trump remarked that it was ‘a really great overseas trip’. [and couldn't resist] Donald Trump’s trouble with Stormy Daniels all started after his personal lawyer paid the porn star $130,000. The payment was flagged as suspicious by banking authorities. Suspicious, because someone actually got paid as promised by Donald Trump. Posted by plantagenet, Thursday, 14 February 2019 6:18:52 PM

Ever since we've had communist governments, we've had people who are prepared to beclown themselves in the service of hiding the truth about said governments.
Famine in Ukraine?....no such thing, they said,...all western propaganda. Purge of the Party?...nup just a few traitors being removed. Millions in the gulags?...more propaganda Human catastrophe in China?...no evidence for that according to the apologists Killing fields in Cambodia?...no such thing we were assured by Chomsky, Pilger et al So in the grand traditions of that we find that "Maduro is the democratically elected president of The country. Thee last election was fair and transparent,...". I wonder if these people can say that with a straight face or if they giggle at the useful idiots they will deceive or perhaps they are the useful idiots. ____________________________________________________________ When Trump was running we were assured that he was a warmonger who'd return to the bad old habits of the Bushes. But so far he's been the peace president. But the TDS crowd can't understand or accept that so they decide that, despite Trump's efforts to cause peace to break-out all over, he really will start wars wherever he can. So they fantasise about him invading this or that nation and pretend that that proves he's both a warmonger and a fool. He won't invade Venezuela. There's no need to. The communists are doing all that is necessary to destroy their regime. That it is also destroying the country and the people doesn't enter their thinking or, it seems, that of their western cheer-squad. Posted by mhaze, Friday, 15 February 2019 11:38:40 AM

I've read that the conditions in Venezuelan goldmines are horrific. Nineteenth century safety. Mercury exposure. Want to complain? A bullet for you my friend. I am glad Australia wasn't a Spanish colony.

Galen,
The elections in Venezuela were not recognised as free and fair and were pretty much rigged which is why many OECD countries don't recognise Maduro. Venezuela is a showcase for the consequences of socialism. Posted by Shadow Minister, Sunday, 17 February 2019 9:23:20 AM
