By David Leyonhjelm, published 13/12/2018

If government spending was halved, this would allow taxes to be almost halved as well, leaving a modest surplus to pay down the Government’s appalling debt.

This is dinosaur economics.

As already noted, the key problem is the failure of companies to pay their fair share of tax.

Also, modern conflict ridden democracies need higher levels of taxation to counter increased levels of inequality, unaffordability, and debt peonage.

Once business pays fair share - then we can reduce tax for others.

Cristopher Warren,
That's a no-brainer but to get this mentality instilled throughout the population a national Service is the prime requirement.
Before business pays their fair share Public Service bureaucrats need to reduce their salaries.
At least business creates employment, what do bureaucrats create ? All they do is deplete the coffers for nothing in return.
We need a royal commission into Public Service salaries. No-one in the Public Service should get more than the PM whose salary is already more than generous.
As a nation we can no longer afford to keep these people who provide absolutely no value for money !
