Why it's Labor who is copping the Longman protest vote : Comments

By Graham Young, published 27/7/2018

They’ve raised political zombies to new life, trying to frighten voters with the spectres of long-departed state premier Campbell Newman, and a “Mediscare” 2.1 based on the Caboolture hospital.

Well, the people have spoken and I'm not the only one with egg all over the face. even so, the spin doctors are out in force spinning the result.

Factually, every rep tossed out by the over judicious use of 44C, have been returned. Meaning the electorate are vastly more fair-minded than the government who demonstrably used their numbers and a seemingly friendly High Court, I believe, for a very narrow reading of the constitution.

It also shows the coalition needs to rethink some of their policies. To take the wind out of the sails of the minors and Labor. And needs to rejig as the party of the underdog, small and medium business, rather than the tool of very big foreign-owned entities?

We need another instrument to encourage foreign investment that doesn't also include selling the family farm, the heritage silverware and or, your economic sovereignty.

Shorten need take no consolation from a "normal result" in the by-elections. Albeit remains on message and consequently, heading a "united" and disciplined party still ahead in the polls?

Even as the coalition is looking more and more and more a divided rabble at war with itself and their basic policy paradigm.

Time for the has-beens, "jackbooted commandants" and wannabes to line up behind the only leader they've got and STFU!

It is time for the Liberal Party to unite behind their
leader and have a look at where they're placing their
emphasis as far as their policies are concerned. The Party
can no longer claim the results of Super Saturday as an
endorsement of their policies - especially their
company tax cuts strategy. The emphasis needs to be on
small businesses not on the big end of town.

Doubt has now been created about the Coalition's chance of
being re-elected at the next federal election. The results
here have changed the momentum in federal politics.

Voters do no like dis-unified parties. It is time as stated -
to get behind the only leader they have, and actually
listen to the concerns of the people. Not to do so - is
going to be fatal.

The lack of Common sense has made it the biggest loser in these results.
