Central government distorts Sydney townplanning : Comments

By Robert Gibbons, published 1/12/2017

This is in line with history since about 1995, a record of capricious decision-making by ideologically-driven politicians.

Sydney town planning!? Are you serious? I mean, it's an open secret, this city and its huge congestion is not down to central government.
But alleged town planners, city officials, developers and the requisite brown paper bags?

And has been thus so for years? Otherwise sanity and central government and decentralisation would have prevailed over half a century ago. And we would have linked some completely self contained new cities, with the only thing missing! Rapid rail linked by trams/monorails and or demand driven moving walkways?

Come on, Sydney Melbourne and almost everywhere there are high rises. What you have is developer democracy? i.e., By the developer for the developer of the developer?

Aided and abetted by money grubbing media moguls and tails (unrepresentative unelected swill) that wag dogs?

Thus we have high profile personalities trying to have the PM replaced, so the merry go round (mad hatters tea party) can continue?

What's that got to do with town planning I hear you ask?

Everything!

First you need a coherent plan, execution and an intended outcome!

Instead, reminiscent of peak hour Japanese commuter trains where those still waiting, push and pack those already in, into spaces too small to breathe! Then push in behind them. To make peak hour train travel the most profitable enterprise! Obviously maximised profit, all that matters to City centrist developers!

Look mum, tinned people!

Footnote: Monorails are an excellent choice, where you already have a gridlocked almost permanent traffic jam! Even on multi-lane divided commutator highways. And where one can simply use the already existing central divide, as the route for a monorail!

Thus you have a service not needing any additional land acquisition! Nor held up or delayed by traffic flows! Nor does it impede or delay emergency vehicles like trams can and do.

And if trams are a viable option then so also trolleybuses able to move to the side of the road to pick up or put down passengers. Carry an inboard charge, (20 minutes) sufficient to enable, wire free travel, rerouting?

And even then able to access interactive inroad magnetic arrays that enable that recharge to continue at scheduled stops?

Finally we are on the dawn of driverless buses and other passenger vehicles, where your phone is all you need to hail said vehicle and or, pay for the service?

The sooner the better!
