Australia’s Budget must leave no child behind : Comments

By Tony Stuart, published 30/5/2017

The Commonwealth Government cannot answer the simple question, 'How much does the Australian Government invest in Australia's children?'

My heart bleeds for the poor and down trodden and their kids! And not leaving any of them behind, requires other areas, like increasing important defense national security or energy security, to be left behind or critically underfunded!

If we would just do what's right by our own and I would, then we need to quite massively grow the economy! And that is never ever going to happen with more of the same!

Suggest anyone genuinely interested in actually dealing with growing inequity, take a butchers at Graham's current editorial on the opposite page and current accompanying comments for a smorgasbord of possibilities! And given we are only limited in real terms, by the size of our imaginations, veracity and practicality of the ideas, please, give it your best shot, or most outrageous impractical ideas.

Not for nothing is it said, one man's garbage, another's treasure!

Thus we saw the birth of the steam powered industrial revolution, ships that sailed under the sea, powered heavier than air flight, engineering marvels like often much maligned Snowy mountains scheme, culminating in a man called Armstrong, walking on the moon!

[And as we now know from the plethora of former contributing experts. All absolutely impossible and or unaffordable! And had we listened or been led by them and their gratuitous advice?]

All entirely and exclusively dependent on affordable energy!
And not what we are chained to, like the proverbial Pavlov's dogs, at present.

Alan B.,

"...take a butchers at Graham's current editorial on the opposite page and current accompanying comments for a smorgasbord of possibilities!"

What editorial?
And what do you mean by "the opposite page"?

Nothing new under the sun in this land girt by sea is there ?

When I see the 'Honourable Members' cycling to their offices and the helicopters grounded, then maybe I'll believe the rhetoric & spin doctoring.

Sorry Aidan, should have realized, editorial and opposite page was above your comprehension limits or pay scale rate?

Take a really deep breath or a couple, go back to home page, then cast your eyes to the right and take a butchers at Graham's latest editorial/blog, Graham being the owner and chief editor of this site.

Read what he says, and if not too challenged, the following comments.

And if by some fortuitous happenstance or serendipity, you should have a brainstorm, feel free to add to the commentary, even if that means having to tolerate a strange burning smell emanating from previously unused cerebral circuits? You know, those reserved for original ideas?

Don't try too hard, you know how easily upset that extra link free effort, makes you?

It's so much easier to steal ideas, bag the originator, then take the kudos and credit later? Your particular forte, along with predilection for pedantic posturing accompanied by unwarranted irrelevant abuse, like every other elder abusing, cyber bully?

I'd imagine the very Last thing President Putin would want is a viable thorium based energy industry replacing the fossil fuel industry, Russia relies on almost exclusively for export dollars and military funding!?

How's the weather in St Petersburg? Warming into a nice day?

Mr Stuart, I suggest you take your UN agency, stuff it where it will never see the light again, & get the hell out of our country. We have no use for the UN & its dictatorial attitudes, & attempts to became a one world government.

Your socialists almost communist attitudes in wanting to take control of how we raise & educate our kids is not welcome, & will be resisted very strongly by all thinking Ozzies.

In other words, go to hell.

Struth, Alan B., why do you have so much trouble comprehending that not everyone accesses this site in the way you do?

Or are you ignorant of the difference between comprehension and knowledge?

Let me spell it out for you: at no time did I not comprehend that there was a web page with an editorial and an opposite. But I did not know what that page was. So I asked, expecting you to supply a URL.

Instead you supplied a cumbersome description (which had the same effect) and an idiotic rant. I'm not a troll and have never been to St Petersburg. The closest I ever got to Russia was flying over it on a Boeing 747.

Aiden...you've been sucked in at the deep end LOL...

Author.
There are two obvious avenues to reduce the governments budget burdens: one is slash the wasted dollars splashed over the Aboriginal bleeding heart industry, and the other is to take a pragmatic view of the wasted billions educating the uneducable....the amount of education required to flip hamburgers at Macca's, and to man an automatic cash register at Coles, is extremely limited.

Yes D.D. LOL indeed.

That said, I disagree with your latest offering on the grounds that most of the menial jobs will soon be ancient history, and replaced by automation? Simply put, we just can't all be door openers.

The key to our (everyone's) future prosperity, inclusive of a mandatory universal wage, is truly affordable energy and that energy is arguably thorium. Thorium delivers in spades what fusion promised but could never ever deliver.

There will be nothing resembling nuclear energy while the ABC rule the thinking of politics...

So the first step along the way is to privatise the ABC, then the coast will be clear...

Diver, don't scapegoat the ABC - they're pretty neutral on the issue. It's the Murdoch press that leads the populist antinuclear bandwagon.

Aidan...

I'm sure there is "deep and meaningful" behind your defence of the ABC; but the difference between Murdoch's media enterprise and the ABC tax funded anti social Junta, is Murdoch has genuine skin in the game. He may actually lose money if he gets it wrong.
But I'm less inclined to give a rats arse what the ABC, with its collection of homosexuals and sundry queers think any more, since abandoning my TV set in total disgust with the lot of them.
I'm now a happy Diver...(apart from extreme unhappiness with slanty eyed Chinese and their slaughter of 100 million sharks a year for their breeding programme).
