John Howard a false prophet : Comments

They are wrong and the nostalgia is misplaced. Howard failed conservatives as well as the rest of us. But he doled out so much cash that few noticed.

Howard was dumped for Work Choices, not for obtaining a surplus. I voted against him for Work Choices and also for his treasonous role in lying our country into the invasion of sovereign Iraq.

His government never at any time built up a Budget surplus. The phoney "surplus" came from flogging off publicly-owned assets, even to the extent of selling our gold reserves.
