Election overload - politics v statesmanship : Comments

By Mal Fletcher, published 19/4/2017

She is leaving herself open to the charge that in this case she is listening too much to her inner politician and not enough to the potential statesperson.

Go Theresa May.

What a gutsy chick (strong woman).

May she win in a landslide.

GB has another PM with the guts to do what is needed - like Maggie Thatcher and Winston Churchill before her.

Of course, Mrs. May should always consult Mal Fletcher before she gets out of bed every morning. He seems to think he knows better than she does about what she thinks and does. It never ceases to amaze how scribblers with no particular qualifications (Mr. Fletcher presents none, unlike other contributors who at least try to convince us that they are qualified to tell us what is right and what is wrong) feel able to pontificate on just about anything.

There is not a mark on Prime Minister May since she took office – unlike most of the buffoons. She is doing a splendid job in pushing Brexit – something she herself did not support, but now shows what a states person she is on the matter.

Two pages of meaningless cack against one of the few politicians in the world who looks as though she intends to do what politicians are meant to do.

I'd suggest that Brexit, had been in the making for three to four decades via constant media dog whistling of immigration, politicians, govt., Europe and the EU.

We have witnessed elsewhere including Australia, a hollowing out and decrease in diversity of views in media, politics and public sector, while matching the valuable upper age median voters' 'values'?

This matching seems more about a return of nativism of deep pocketed plutocrats to distract govt. from real policies, or better for them, policies that are destructive for the state and nation, but fruitful for the top end of town.

One of these nativist tactics is constant politics of identity, culture, immigration, implied race etc. taking space in media and social narratives precluding any other themes e.g. discussion of long term policy; good old class war with conservatives masquerading as socialist workers againt the elites.....

Like old plutocrats with a bent for human biology help think tanks and charities informing govt. with Club of Rome or national socialist theories or policies aka 'limits to growth' on immigration, population, fertility, environment, identity, small govt. etc. (John Tanton 'sustainability' CIS etc. in USA, Migration Watch & Population Matters in UK, and Sustainable Australia etc. in Oz; all rooted in eugenics and racial science while masquerading as environmentalists and the left).

To understand the communication side there is Adam Curtis's 'Century of the Self' doco via BBC and influence of psychoanalysis in society and politics, Dr. Ian Haney-Lopez on dog whistling and Jane Mayer on the 'media assembly line' developed from audits of mainstream media a generation ago by fossil fuel plutocrats including Kochs, and how to bypass voters' heads for their hearts.

For all the presentation of MPs they lack conviction in their pronouncements because they never had ownership. MPs seem precluded from making informed long term policy versus external agents while fighting daily culture and sovereignty laws acting as a distraction.

Makes me think older generations who vote simply don't care about younger generatiosn and humanity, have fallen for the media and political propaganda of a supposed dystopian future, creating fear in society?
