He cannot undo the damage done by Obama and previous administrations that allowed massive Muslim immigration; he can only move forward from the time he became President and, he is clearly being frustrated in this task by damn fool courts, urged on by the maniacal U.S Left who were expecting stupidity as usual after the election.

Muslim immigration to the West is inimical to the safety of Amercia and the West; immigration is part of the Islamic plan for eventual domination of the the World. That domination will be achieved – even if it takes centuries – unless we have politicians like Trump to prevent it; although, even he does not seem to grasp the seriousness of a Muslim presence in the West.

If Trump does exhibit “ ignorance, a small-minded vision”, it is in the fact they he, like all Western politicians, is blissfully unaware of the danger of ANY Muslim immigration and its connection to the jihad against the West. The subject is not “the pivotal role of immigrants in the making of the United States” ; it is keeping the United States free (of Islamic domination).

Previous immigrants to the West have, indeed, helped build countries to what they are today; Muslim immigrants come for the welfare, firmly believing that they are part of the coming Islamization of the West – which, of course they will be, unless we start to get some sense. Comparing today's mass immigation of Muslims with the post-WW11 mass immigations of displaced persons and people looking for a better life is pathetically naïve, and extemely suicidal. Defending one's country against Islamization has nothing to do with “This re-ignition of racist othering” that this Muslim person is trying to put over on us.

I don't understand why people get upset about President Trump's immigration stance.
I mean really Donald Trump was just an ordinary man, just a candidate among MANY when he made his feelings known.
The US public stood behind him and SUPPORTED his stance.
That's democracy.
The author may not support Trump, but who is he to criticise.
US citizens aka 'We the People' decided the outcome out the election which is the status quo that now stands.

Finally, since when can Muslims enter into an "open, vigorous and respectful dialogue"? In Islamic societies, they use blasphemy laws to suppress all contrary opinions; in the West they scream "Islamophobia" at any criticisms. Muslim do not want dialogue, they want unmerited acceptance. Thy should anyone respect a people that does not respect others?

As I have said here for 15 years, Muslims cannot live in peace, in numbers, as equals, with non-Muslims. Bad times are coming. I blame the hate that saturates Islam and the (self) deceit and ignorance of Muslims.

Never once does this author, in any of his writings, seek to understand the primary source of the disorder and violence that ravages his country. Why are Al Shabab and/or ISIS hateful? It might be the Quran and hadith, which they constantly cite in their communications..... (Think about that, because Mr. Samatar will not consider it!)

But he wants the West (Mr. Trump in this case) to shut his eyes and sing Kumbayah and let Muslims and radical Somalis come as they want, without restrictions, to share their failed social norms and hateful ideology, bringing with them the mentality that has made a mess of his country.
