Trump and Putin need Security Council resolution to defeat Islamic State : Comments

By David Singer, published 13/12/2016

President Obama's failure to co-operate with Putin for the last two years in seeking to degrade and destroy Islamic State has resulted in hundreds of thousands of needless civilian deaths and injuries.

Nothing is as it seems! And the failure is all yours David, inasmuch as more compelling evocation on you part, here from the very bowels of OLO, would have resulted in several different outcomes!

Shame on you David for failing to be more eloquent in your powers of persuasion! If you'd but made a more compelling argument, President Putin and his man in Washington, would have no choice but to (yes my Lord and Master) obey your myriad multiple must do's!
May the fourth be with you Jedi!

Hi David

A problem for the US, UK and France is that a Security Council YES vote to a Russian style Boots on the Ground in Iraq is quietly unacceptable to Iraq. US, UK and French forces have bitter experience of the Iraqi Army and Shiite militias turning on "infidel" Western boots on the ground in Iraq.

Furthermore of the five Permanent Members ("P5") of the Security Council CHINA has a habit of vetoing Western "boots on the ground" in Iraq and also Syria.

Already Iranian Special Forces and multi-national Shiite militias have pesuaded the almost exclusive Shiite manned Iraqi Army that once they have slaughtered the Sunnis+IS in Mosul the Iraqi Army+militias should turn against Western forces and the Kurds.

So Mossad paramilities are participating in the West's wider strategy of limited Special Forces training/equipping Iraqi Special Forces while calling in artillery/airstrikes in the bloody invasion against the Sunnis+IS in Mosul.

What does it matter, this is the continuum of a war that has
been underway for 1400 years and the Middle East under the banner of
Islam is at war with everyone.

To my mind an attack anywhere in the ME is justified if it serves to
defeat Islamists of whatever variety.
Moslems cannot escape responsibility as it is their religion and
governments for which they are responsible.

We should just saw off the Middle East and let them fight it out.
We have put enough effort into pulling their chestnuts out of the fire.
From now on just hammer down any centre that puts any other part of
the world at risk. Give up rushing in to do humanitarian deeds.
Let them stew in their own juice.

Hi Bazz

The current and future OIL value of the Middle East means it will stay an un-cut-offable flashpoint.

US shale oil/gas won't last forever (in economicly extractable quantities) then Middle East oil prices and production will again rise.

Also a nuclear armed Iran will be countered by a nuclear armed Saudi Arabia. Both new nuclear armed countries will bother Israel (already nuclear weapon established).

Terrorism, mainly coming from the Middle East, is also a reality leading to endless Western/Russian intervention.

Richard III is it ?
Yes, I have to agree with you, but perhaps what we need to do is
say to OPEC, you buy the ships we will buy the oil at the dock in our
ports. We do not want anything else to do with you.
They will agree as they have no choice.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

I am entitled to state my opinion and if that falls on the deaf ears of both Putin and Obama - so be it.

Had they both agreed on a Security Council resolution - Islamic State would have been defeated long ago and would not have been able to commit the carnage it has for the last two and a half years.

I am propoposing a UN military force composed of more than just Western boots on the ground. All 193 UN member States could be called on to provide military support.

Islamic State is a world problem and the world must collectively resolve to defeat it.

It is now operative in at least 25 countries and no State can consider itself free of its horrors and objectives.

Regrettably your prescription to let the Middle East tear itself apart will not stop the spread of Islamic State outside the boundaries of the Middle East.

David said; will not stop the spread of Islamic State outside

Maybe, but with the cessation of all airline and shipping services
we could give it a good go. The borders would have to be closed and
guarded but self preservation is already demanding that.
While ever they continue their cousin marriage practise I do not think
we will be able to reason with the Islamists. If they stop it now it
will take hundreds of years to repair their genome.

It is do something like that or settle down for another 1000 years of intermittent warfare.

Mr Singer's call for a Security Council resolution obliging all civilised nations to carry the war to the Islamists' nose is very timely and let's hope it gains a head of steam.

Indeed the civilised world could go further.

Islam is bigotry on steroids. Not just ISIS but the very core of Islam right back to the desert bandit Mohammed's orgy of butchery. The proper response is a sustained ideological war against the anti-human Moslem cult and against the widespread dhimmitude of major public institutions including news media busting a gut to shield the Islamic cult from opprobrium. The core of Islam is its religious supremacism and the obligation on unbelievers (and believers too) to cringe before its authority.

The Cronulla riots were a case in point. Moslems insulted and intimidated women who didn't observe Moslem dress codes on the beach, lifesavers became involved in the women's defence, fighting spread to crowds of non-Moslems, and dhimmis rushed in to deplore the non-Moslems as "rioters".

And recently, dhimmis rushed in to deplore Tony Abbott describing ISIS as a death cult and Peter Dutton for revealing Moslem immigrants' connections with ISIS terrorism.

All supremacism - any cult of "one true" or "special" faith or ethnicity - is a blight on the face of the earth and a threat to world peace.
