Don’t mention the Chinese elephant in the room : Comments
By Dan Ryan, published 15/9/2016What you will never see is a similar full-page advertisement calling for Nobel laureate Liu Xiaobo, or indeed any of China’s political prisoners, to be released.

In our lounge room at that time was a young Chinese couple who had recently escaped from Chinese officials cracking down on the pro democracy movements at their university in Guangzhou. I, along with the young couple, were extremely embarrassed and shocked to discover in such dramatic fashion, that my wife supported the official Chinese government line.
It later turned out that my ex had been working for the Chinese...(long story I won't go into here), but suffice it to say my dearly beloved turned out to be a red hot, fervent Maoist, Little Red Book carrying, real deal Chinese Communist. I shall never forget the experience.
What concerned me then and still does today, is that despite the passing of time and the information we have on Chinese ideologies, philosophies and practices, this does not deter the arse lickers Dan mentions. We saw it with Rudd and it perpetuates throughout Australian politics and politicians. So should we ask instead: “Do you, the Australian government who say you represents us, under a so called ‘mandate’ – do you support the Chinese government’s policies and practices ?”
Taking their answer(s) if ever you received one back, would you then compare their answer to their track records/public comments/party platform on issues like organ harvesting, political interference, bribes etc ?
It seems and appears that politicians are only interested in what post politics will gain them personally through the connections made whilst in politics.
