Will Britain leave the European Union? : Comments

By Michael Knox, published 8/4/2016

It is not so important that Britain leaves the EU. It is very important what happens next.

Interesting article. I wonder if the analysis considered the political and economic effects on the remainder of the EU if the UK exits. The direct economic effects might not be much, but the UK has a relatively strong economy and had been a powerful voice opposing some of the dafter EU policy ideas. The UK outside the EU might embrace populism; the EU without the UK could be more inclined to interventionism.

Only a complete and utter fool or an intransigent recalcitrant conservative (same diff) would see any real merit in Britain leaving the EU nor will the attempt at moral blackmail (we'll threaten to leave if you don't give us a better deal and more autonomy than anywhere else in europe and then let us back in) have anything but ultimate negative consequences?

Cameron, better the world should think you a complete fool than to simply open your mouth and remove all doubt?

And if there was any appetite for such a shoot yourself in your own economic foot strategy, it is not one shared in vastly more pragmatic Wales, Scotland or Ireland.

For mine, this is little more than a cynical waving of the nationalistic stick to shore up diminishing domestic political support at home?

The EU is dying. It is not if but when it will collapse. The only real question is whether it becomes an Islamic state before or after the collapse.

It is controlled politically by green tinged left leaning big government advocating bureaucrats. The population no longer have any control over these bureaucrats, & the bureaucrats have no interest in the welfare of the population.

Economically it controlled by the merchant banks, with no interest in countries, decency, or the general population. Profits are their only motivation, & the bureaucrats keep them on side with huge waste of taxes in things like wind power.

Britain will regain some of its lost sovereignty, & some border control by getting the hell out of the mess at the earliest opportunity. Hell it might be able to get a modicum of control of the banks, possible, but not very likely.

What ever it does, Britain will have more chance of survival the sooner it gets out from under the burden of EU bureaucracy. It is probably too far down the welfare state slide to oblivion, but if it can observe the collapse of the EU from the outside, it may have a chance.

If they don't vote to get out, they deserve what they get.

Indeed Hasbeen, I have just seen a Moslem demo in London.
The moslems were shouting; "This is now a moslem country, the British must leave!".

Sounds ridiculous doesn't it, but they know their population increase
has brought it about already. They have done it in every country in
the middle east and every country in Northern Africa.

Perhaps Australia should start an immigration program to bring British
refugees to Australia.
We should make plans to have perhaps 30% to 50% of the UK population
wanting to move to Australia over the next 40 years.
We could send the moslem population here to the UK in exchange.

I know, I know, some on here will say that is stupid, but the
method has worked in the past and is easier than waging full scale war
which has not worked.

Britain can implement Brexit and seal their borders against the
European moslem armies but they have the enemy within.
Nothing short of a civil war will now save Britain.
