'Community consent' without community? : Comments

The government's commitment to community consultation and consent is being seriously tested – not just at this but all six shortlisted sites.

I have just wasted 5 minutes, which I will never get back. There is nothing in the article which offers a solution to the problems of many (hundreds, perhaps, of low and medium level level waste storages scattered around hospitals (primarily) and other locations in every major city in Australia.

True FRIENDS of the Earth, if friends they be, would cooperate with those who currently manage the medical gloves, tools and containers, etc, left behind by life-saving radiography. Instead, we read emotional, useless silliness presented in such a way as to defer, stymie or delay progress where progress can and should be achieved.

I guess that we will wait in vain for this same author to write a proposal for the best management option for the increasingly large, though exceedingly low risk, hundreds of temporary waste sites nationally.
