gee wiz John, haven't you got an axe to grind mate. unions not ripping off members. Where ave you been hiding lately mate, do you realize the millions they have cheerfully splashed around in recent years was actually members money!

The plain hard cold facts are that unless small business (retail/hospitality and tourism get a break on penalty rates hundreds are going to close up shop and join the hundreds that already have.

We are already seeing $8 eggs and the big two retailers are showing signs of pain ahead.

The fact is that Sundays have become a family day and is now fast becoming the busiest trading day yet the wages are killing small business.

Protect the conditions at your peril.

So how did Sunday traders get bye in years gone by if Sundays are now becoming the best trading day of the week. Something does not add up there Butch.
Economic times come and go. You can not adjust wages to suite yourself. Saturday’s Sundays and public holidays, if people require items, they should be offered weekend Etc; prices to cover such out of hours work practices. You operate in a free market, so the market will dictate the way to go.
The idea of attacking wages of the lowest payd employees is to simplistic to be realistic, you need to put more thought into it. The situation is what it is so deal with it. The FWA set the wage rates, and say that is the minimum a person can be expected to work for.
It is not for you to say $8 eggs are an obstacle for trade if that is what it costs. The person wanting the $8 eggs will decide that for themselves. Not all out of hours traders are whining about wages, they are quite happy to trade as is
