By James Page, published 29/10/2015

The complexity of the current situation is perhaps best illustrated by the growing world migration and refugee crisis.

This article starts poorly and is all downhill from there. “There are numerous signs that the way the world is run is in trouble”, says James. But, much as he might wish otherwise, the world isn’t “run” by anyone. We have nation states, and international organisations that allow those states to enter voluntary agreements on cross-border issues like trade and the environment. But, thank goodness, we have no world government with power to force nations to act against their citizens’ wishes and interests.

The idea that the UN could evolve into a benevolent global government is laughable. It is riven with factionalism and conflict, largely ineffectual on things that actually matter, and has a bloated and inefficient bureaucracy. This is the organisation that not only put Saudi Arabia on its Human Rights Council, it actually gave it the chair of an important committee.

We can also look to the EU for extensive evidence of how supra-national jurisdictions routinely ignore or evade democratic accountability.

We need better international institutions, but not more powerful ones

ttbn, too true, the NWO can go jump & i have friends who worked for the UN & tell me it is the most corrupt organization in world history.

Suseonline, utter drivel, hardly any British migrants in colonial times were economic migrants. 1, there were convicts & guards SENT by orders. 2, there were evicted share crop farmers, other serfs, peasants from England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales sent out on chartered ships.

Have you studied any Islamic scripture? if not, then you have NO right whatsoever to comment on that, of which you know NOTHING.

Armchair Critic, hear, hear. The real problem in the world today is that the White European world stopped reminding the rest of the world that we are better than they are. REAL White Supremacy is not the quality of our genes but the quality of our ideas, our system of government, which was the best, before we allowed international socialism to infect it.

Daffy Duck, your scaring me now.

plantagenet, correct.

Yuyutsu, love it.

Rhian, correct analysis, maybe you have been listening to me?

Plantagenet, be careful who you befriend.

Imarightextremist, YOU may be born of convict stock no doubt, but My ancestors were free settlers who came to Australia for a better life.
You shouldn't comment about Australian history of which you know absolutely nothing about.

As for reading any holy book at all...not me thanks, but you go right ahead, knock yourself out...

Oh Gawd, James Price is yet another socialist internationalist humanitarian World Saver who despises nationalism, and thinks that world governance will Save The World.

Memo to James. The European Union and it's handling of the illegal immigration problem is an object lesson in why world Governance will not work. It is bad enough that even democratic governments routinely ignore the will of the majority of their own people, by grovelling to noisy minorities that they hope will garner them enough electoral support to get them across the line in the next election. But when governments surrender their own sovereign powers to unelected, (or very much indirectly elected) organisations they become subject to decisions that can seriously affect the lives of their own people.

There is no doubt in my mind that the vast majority of Europeans are horrified at the present situation of the entire dysfunctional Islamic world decamping their failed societies and heading north with their begging bowls to be parasites to the Europeans. The Euros may have once has some compassion for them, but years of abuse, demands that Europeans must end freedom of speech, plus rape epidemics, and now terrorism, has most definitely changed the Euros once tolerant view. Along comes the present crisis, and what does Brussels do? It has a conference. And when that does nothing, it has another conference. And another one. Then it comes out with some stupid plan where very European country must accept a quota of "refugees", but it can not think of any way to stem the increasing flood.

The European Union government appears to be some sort of overpaid club full of largely appointed Gillian Triggs, Natasha Stot Despoja, Susioncrack, and Bob Brown types, who live in a bubble, and who never tire of wagging their fingers at their own people, while coming up with ever more ludicrous ideas that are impractical.

As for the UN, purely on the grounds of "non discrimination" we have the ludicrous idea that the UN Human Rights Organisation has had such noble advocates of Human Rights as Saudi Arabia, Cuba and Libya.

Suseonline, darling i suggest you study some British & Australian history. My ancestors were free settlers too, but like yours they did not day dream about a better life in Australia. Almost all free settlers were sent, sometimes against their will. 1, aristocrats evicted tenants, some were sent to cities to work in factories, some were sent on chartered ships to Australia; 1a, an aristocrat's first born son inherited the estate, others were sent to the colonies, most went willingly, some ner'dowell's did not.

if you don't study the people who hate you, they will succeed in killing you? Don't you care about your daughter's safety?

LEGO, oh dear, we must not speak common sense to the ruling left wing elites, they hate such quaint notions as "self evident truth".
