1922 two-state solution key to resolving Arab-Jewish conflict : Comments

By David Singer, published 26/10/2015

Redrawing the current boundaries of that fateful 1922 decision - taking into consideration today's changed circumstances on the ground - remains the key to ending the Arab-Jewish conflict.

The 1922 two state solution may well be the key to this conflict?

But who to trust to keep their word to ensure the key is turned all the way?

The gun totting new settlers sitting on patently purloined land; or the hard right religious minority, who currently keep Nethanyahu in power?

It's not land conceded to the Israelis that is being gradually being claimed back by illegal settlements.

What makes any genuine agreement impossible is the utter lack of genuine goodwill needed to get it done?

And perhaps having gotten it done, keep it done instead of constantly reneging by both sides? Due almost exclusively political expediency/domestic politics?

Redrawing the boundaries? Then how is it revisiting the 1922 solution if you are redrawing it? To suit israel I notice.

Facts on the ground is a vile and evil paradigm practiced by criminals and murderers. We must never reward the crime of conquest and occupation by recognising "facts on the ground". The settlements are illegal under international law and will always be seen as such by fair minded people in the rest of the world.

Do you really think it will solve everything if the Palestinians become Jordanians? Would you do it?

If your "solution" involves pushing people off their land and out of their homes, again, then I can only see it as a continuation of israels bloodthirsty ethnic cleansing and a crime against humanity.

"Redrawing the current boundaries of that fateful 1922 decision - taking into consideration today's changed circumstances on the ground - remains the key to ending the Arab-Jewish conflict."

David is again pushing the Zionist wet dream with the above statement, and as to the below,

"Pencils and rubbers wielded by Israeli and Jordanian negotiators can end the indiscriminate murder and maiming of Jews by Arab gun-toters, knife-stabbers, stone-throwers and car-rammers - and the inevitable Jewish response."

Here is a different truth to more of David's lies, and from a Jew too!

If you want to resolve the "two state solution" get rid of the current Israli government, the rabid Zionist setters, illegal settlements, unhelpful US far right support and completely disregard people like David's propaganda for what they all are; steps which perpetuate genocide based on madness (real genuine inhumane insanity).

Nothing short of this will only continue the blatant murder of people backed into corner with nowhere else to go.

In 1922 there was a two state solution. Israel and Jordan, unfortunately the members of the UAR decided they wanted nothing to do with it and attacked Israel in 1948, they assumed their British training and arms would allow them to roll over a poorly equiped and largely untrained Israeli force. It didn't work then, or in 1967, or 1973. When the Arabs mention the occupied territories them mean the whole of Israel! Ask them what bits they will leave for the Jews, their answer will be there will be no Jews!

"who to trust to keep their word"? - The Jews have kept their word with Egypt since 1979 and Jordan since 1994 when these countries signed peace agreements with Israel. The PLO has broken its word over and over again after signing the Oslo Accords and the Bush Road Map with Israel.

"patently purloined land"? - Do you mean purloined by the Arabs who in 1948 drove out all the Jews who had been living there for generations?

"illegal settlemements" - no they are legal under article 6 of the Mandate for Palestine and article 80 of the UN Charter.

The 1922 solution established the groundwork for a Palestinian Arab State in 78% of the Mandate territory and a Jewish State in the remaining 22%.

Churchill made it clear that "in" did not mean "all of". The Jews accepted that decision and the Arabs did not. So redrawing the existing boundaries between Jordan and Israel in direct negotiations should be readily achievable.

I figure that the Arabs would end up with about 80% of the Mandate territory and the Jews with the remaining 20%. Not a bad deal for the Arabs who were promised nothing before Abdullah stopped in Transjordan en route to help his brother Feisal fight the French to enable him to stay in power in Damascus.

My solution would not involve one Arab or Jew having to leave his present home or business.

Whilst the PLO and Hamas remain at each other's throats and whilst both deny the West Bank and Gazan Arabs any say in their future - then these two power-hungry groups represent a permanent impediment to ever signing a peace treaty with Israel.

The solution I am proposing - direct negotiations between Israel and Jordan - has not been previously attempted. It is time to bring them together to allocate sovereignty of the West Bank between their respective States as the two successor States to the Mandate for Palestine and complete what was proposed in 1922.
