WADA drug testing better, but still falls short : Comments

By Chris Lewis, published 24/6/2015

But sports drug testing has indeed improved, at least for elite sportspeople subject to stringent testing under the WADA code, as evident by superstars of sport being caught in recent years.

Policing drug cheating is an absolute waste of time and considerable resources, given there will always be some who just don't get caught; and therefore able to win with their enhanced performance outcomes.

And where do you draw the line?

On assisted healing or assisted performance?

And is say, Ventolin, a performance enhancer? Or beetroot juice? Or Viagra? I mean, the elephantine swinging slug in the shorts is a dead set giveaway!? And yes, they all possibly improve performance! (And don't go there!)

There are ways to permanently enhance performance and via genetic manipulation!

And simply inserted/injected with a hollowed out, almost benign virus!? Have you had your flu shot?

I mean, in any contest we compete in, there will be some drug cheats using some substance to temporarily enhance performance, which may have harmful (life long) side effects!?

So why don't we just face facts, we simply cannot successfully police it!

That being so, why don't we use what we know and just beat them hands down, at their own game!?

And with a therapy that confers permanent strength, endurance and entirely untraceable performance enhancing, and what's more, for the term of our natural lives!

And here I'm not talking about extending life, just enhancing it as much as is doable!

Which is better?

Several decades spent in an expensive nursing home all crippled and bent or bedridden; or, still able to jog round the block, cut our own grass, trim our own hedge, ride a bike to the corner shop, alert and with all our marbles, in our nineties!

If you believe you have a date with destiny, and I do, what could be wrong with simply going to sleep and just not waking, when that date is due!

Or failing that, retain the mental alertness of youth and be able to study and pass a university exam well into your nineties, where the wisdom of the years, will assist some of the outcomes?

Which by the way, are then transferable to the next generation.

And therefore, just sound cost effective commonsense aged care/health budget!?
