How Greens leader Richard Di Natale missed an opportunity to engage moderates on both sides of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict : Comments

By Philip Mendes, published 11/6/2015

The state of Palestine was never established for a range of historical reasons, but the state of Israel has always defined itself as a Jewish state, and been regarded as such by most countries around the world.

A two state "solution" is not a solution unless it is a just one. To be an just one it needs to embody no overlords and submen.

That means each state to have the same right to admit or reject immigrants, to travel, to trade, to acquire weapons (including nuclear in either or in neither), to kick out unwanted settlers in its own territory.

It means a definite border separating the two states. It means the residents or each state have freedom to travel unobstructed in their own territory. IOt means a negotiated settlement allocating equivalent access to water.

Then, and only then, does the Resistance stop being a Resistance and lose any right to fire rockets into the territory of self-appointed occupiers.

Which side would reject out of hand a just settlement based on equality?

One guess!
