Both are fundamentally flawed, I believe, insomuch as elements incorporate both religion and politics? (Self appointed Dictatorial Theocracies)
Turkey showed the way forward by separating the secular and politics from religious belief!
Thereby allowing Democracy, replete with religious freedom and non Muslims (Coptic Christians etc) to cohabitate peacefully with the wider populace.
The Kurdish problem being one where Kurdish Muslims just can't get along with the Turkish Muslims, and their desire to perpetrate the remains of the Ottoman empire?
What Islam needs is a new Ataturk and new found religious tolerance!
Without which good schools and hospitals mean very little, or become tools merely used to ram a flawed belief system down inherently unwilling throats?
For mine, the inherently peaceful, do unto other as you would be done unto, Sofie tradition is the way to go?
And given that tradition has had the most success in peacefully spreading Islam; and integrating almost seamlessly with the host populaces? Why not?
