Lee - go back and look at the $1.1 million figure you quote repeatedly. Its simply too small to be taken seriously. The fact that you think that its large enough to distort the debate shows a concerning lack of experience in an aspiring politician.
Also make some effort to look at the overall budgets of the major parties, as well as the Greens, as Peter Lang suggests, and see who and what are the major influences. In any case, banning specific classes of companies from donating over a specific issue is fringe politics with no place in government. NSW has banned property developers from donating but, please note, no one is against property development as an industry as such. No wonder Labor joined the Libs in voting it down. And yet the Greens opposed the increase to petrol excise. Hypocrites!

Yes and where are the Greens on the biggest ongoing environmental catastrophe on the planet, ie Fukushima?
The Greens in my view are just as owned by the Global Corporates as Labor and the Coalition. You do not stand for our common humanity but an insane ideology based on here say. The world has not warmed since 1998 so the new con is climate change which has nothing to do with CO2 induced warming. Posted by Arjay, Tuesday, 24 March 2015 10:05:24 PM

'The world has not warmed since 1998 so the new con is climate change which has nothing to do with CO2 induced warming.' Could you explain this? I'm not raising a belligerent rhetorical question. I genuinely would like to know what you mean? Posted by Killarney, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 4:42:45 AM

Killarney,
Read 'The Stadium Wave': http://judithcurry.com/2013/10/10/the-stadium-wave/ It provides a good explanation of the many causes of cycles of changing temperature of different method: decades, multidecades, centuries, millenia, etc. This first study goes back only 300 years so far, but there are much longer period natural cycles too. They are working on extending back. Posted by Peter Lang, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 7:16:09 AM

I totally agree, and Graeme Wood's $1.6m must have bought the soul of the Greens so making Lee Rhiannon a mere hireling.
As a Stalinist, Lee likes having directions as to what to think. What are his orders to her and how long has it been going on? Posted by McCackie, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 9:04:28 AM

If only we had world government, as alluded to by former Greens Leader Bob Brown, then the author’s wish to ban mining and coal seam gas companies altogether would be granted. Then we could all become sun worshippers and live happily ever after.
Seriously though, the author appears to have forgotten apparent questionable Greens dealings following a $1.6 million donation that was made to the Greens by Wotif.com director and founder, Graeme Wood (worth an estimated $372 million according to BRW's Rich List – see http://www.smh.com.au/national/wotif-a-rich-man-helped-the-greens-20110107-19ix2.html). As reported in 24 November 2011 SMH article, “Greens push for lobbyist inquiry” (see http://www.smh.com.au//breaking-news-national/greens-push-for-lobbyist-inquiry-20111124-1nvqm.html : “Opposition Senate leader Eric Abetz said the upper house would consider a motion calling for Greens leader Bob Brown to be referred to the privileges committee over his dealings with businessman Graeme Wood, founder of the accommodation website wotif.com. Mr Wood made the biggest single private donation in Australian political history when he gave $1.6 million to the Greens before the 2010 election. Liberal senator Helen Kroger on Wednesday raised the possibility that Mr Wood may have "improperly influenced" Senator Brown or his deputy Christine Milne in the discharge of their parliamentary duties. The claim centres on questions the Greens have asked about the sale of a woodchip mill in Tasmania, subsequently purchased by Mr Wood. "We have a Greens senator saying we need a Senate committee to have a look at the impact of lobbyists on the parliament when her own leader personally negotiated a $1.6 million deal by way of a donation," Senator Abetz said.” Posted by Raycom, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 11:57:45 AM

Can you tell me about the big donor to the Greens Party? How much did he/they donate? And why did the Greens try to cover it up and deny it? And why are your party meetings behind closed doors? The Greens are blatantly hypocritical and extremely irresponsible.
The damage the Greens are doing to Australia, is immense. You are so embedded in your eco-religious doctrine and cult beliefs you are incapable of rational analysis. The damage you are doing is immense: economic, environmental, human well-being world wide, security.
