Superseding the Intergenerational Report : Comments

By Syd Hickman, published 20/3/2015

Under Swan as Treasurer the AGR was absurdly optimistic because it was written in the middle of a boom. Under Hockey we get pessimism because we are in a decline.

Craig Minns may god protect us from men with vision.

Three of the most visionary men of the last centaury were Starlin, Hitler, & Churchill.

How many millions did their vision & leadership kill.

What we need in government is good managers. Men who will cut through the bumph, cut spending, & allow people to get on with making a success or failure of their lives as their actions deserve.

Rhrosty, mate, just think of the total failure that is Tasmania, & you can see the result of proportional representation.

For success you want exactly the opposite. A government, with no upper house full of "unrepresentative swill" as one PM put it. A government with no "partners" or independent tail wagging the dog. Then, & only then will we get the policies most voted for. A first past the post system will give you that.

I or you may not like the policies of some governments so elected, but better one parties policies than a bastard mix.

Remember the definition of a camel is a horse designed by a committee. That is what you get with proportional representation.

Hasbeen, you've convinced me; what we obviously need is leaders who can't navigate their way out of the dunny.

Thanks so much for setting me straight.

Craig, if we could have got that three in a dunny, & nailed the door shut, a lot of people would not have died so painfully.

Hmmm, let's think about this - 3 nutjobs who arose in the early part of the 20th century as a response to the vast growth in European populations in a world that was only just moving out of the post-feudal model of early industrial development... Do they provide a compelling argument for conscientiously avoid considering the formation of a unified vision for the direction of the country?

Nah, sorry Hasbeen, having thought about it, I reckon you should have stayed on the dunny, where the full beauty of your ideas could be properly appreciated. As long as you didn't have the foresight to turn on the exhaust fan of course.

An insightful article.
Especially regarding all the rubbish being talked about the aging population.

Apparently this problem is set to occur in 2040-2050. Well, that leaves out most of the people over 60years now, the biggest proportion of them will be dead. The generation that will be the old people, then, is heavily superannuated. So leave the old generation who never had super alone and stop punishing them for what is a poblem, for decades away.

Joe Hockey pedals the argument that we will all be living until 150 by then.
Is he for real? or is he using every propaganda tool in his arsenal, that what he thinks of, as the stupid public, will believe.

This is simply the old snouts in the trough, in-power -types, wanting to shaft and diddle those
they have the upper hand over. It was ever thus.

"We must make sure they don't become a drain on the money that is there to provide those pensions for us." WE shouldn't have to be
done out of our expected luxurious retirements.

This is a horse called self-interest, being pedalled by our leaders, of whichever political persuasion.

Humans never change.
Just the lies and twaddle they use to justify what they do. They are very creative when it
comes to that.
