Sand is an integral part of efficient fracking, and it is in short supply.

Fortunately, we have plenty of such sand.
Albeit, there are places where it must be in short supply.
Why just a few dags ago, driving out of a southern city, I saw 3 oil industry analysts buried up to their collective necks in it.

I pulled into a nearby service station to inquire why these men were buried up to their necks?
Shortage of "fracking" sand, was the laconic reply.

Oh my, we are at "Peak Sand", a bit of company for peak oil. Pity we are not at Peak Stupidity but "B"ugger "A"lls are still spewing out polluting intelligence, that well really needs capping.

Gosh! Isn't this exciting. I can't wait to see what they're going to do with the ginormous holes left behind after extracting the sand. Technology is so thrilling.

Get a grip ybgirp, we will use them to store water in of course, after all we need more dams.

Talk about a win/win solution.
