Three different office market stories. Same set of data. : Comments

There is a lot of pessimism about the CBD office market in Brisbane at present but is all of it warranted?

Longer term?
Further and long overdue decentralization, and the continuation of the current downward trend, and thank heavens, a return to halfway reasonable rents, is in prospect!
Even so, at the end of the day, 50% of something will be worth more than 100% of nothing!
That said, the wise would be well advised to junk the bricks and mortar mindset, and instead look at promising alternative energy prospects/projects.
Simply put, as the world supplies of energy products/production winds down; as it must, those with (can't loose) investments/shares in alternative energy projects, will just get richer and richer, as alternative energy product production is cranked up and up!
A good businessman/woman, know when to cut his/her losses and get out OR IN!

Well we can only hope the pessimism is well founded.

If half the office space, & a quarter of the retail space was converted to apartments for those who have some reason to actually want to be in the CBD, & the office/retail space built out on the fringes of the south east, it would save the taxpayer a fortune.

Gone would be the peak hour traffic jam, as many people stopped traveling to the city. It would save a fortune in road works.

Gone would be the need to upgrade public transport, as so many more could live near their workplace.

Talk about a win/win, & just think how many less bureaucrats they would need in the Brisbane council. One can only dream.
