Poirot, many detainees also complain about conditions at Curtin detention centre, yet people tend to forget that Curtin was originally an airforce base,,home to our servicemen and their families. Good enough for them but apparently not good enough for asylum seekers.

Big Nana,
".... As for Gillian Triggs, she has already been caught out lying at the commission, with her statement about armed guards." Yeah...thanks for that. From a govt which has done little else but "lie" and resort to "suppression of info" ...that's quite a laugh. Posted by Poirot, Wednesday, 3 September 2014 3:23:18 PM

see the usual progressives dismissing Triggs outright lie and showing no compassion for the 1000 plus drowned. Instead they need their little dose of Abbottphobia displaying little hissy fits and 'moral ' outrage as Rudd did about global warming. Bruce's embarrasmment of MOrrison stopping the boats when he and most others said it wasn't possible leads him to write such rott. Big Nana you are spot on.

You need to understand that Poirot doesn't care that what she's saying is untrue. For her, there's no such thing as truth, only "ideology". Posted by Jardine K. Jardine, Wednesday, 3 September 2014 5:13:19 PM

runner,
Nice to see you approve of these sorts of conditions, you compassionate little thing you. http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2014/09/03/asylum-seeker-brain-dead-after-cut-turned-septicaemia-shocking-detention ...as if you give two hoots for anyone drowned as they fled in desperation. (And I know you're knocked out by your favourite term, Abbottphobia - but, Hint: it's not really that clever) Never mind JKJ, Big Nana, As he's constantly out-debated - his only recourse is to accuse opponents of speaking "untruths". The mothers with crawling babies are not forcibly kept in their air conditioned rooms. Grassed areas outside, in the playground are available. I raised 4 children in the tropics, without air conditioning and my my kids were fine, even though they didn't have the swimming pool the Xmas Is kids have. In fact, at one stage we lived in the remote bush in the Kimberley in a tin shed, without power or running water. Many Australians, including Indigenous ones, living in very remote areas would love some of the facilities available on Xmas Is.
