Are the property holdings of our federal politicians negatively influencing policy and causing them to ignore evidence?

Whilst I agree with the general thrust of the article it occurs to me that property is probably one of the least risky political investments for politicians. The conflict of interest issue can easily trip them up in a lot of other forms of investment. Property seems a far lower risk in terms of political fallout than investing in many other areas.

The conflict of interest is still there in real terms but politically its unlikely to bite them badly.
