By Paul Budde, published 14/4/2014

The internet has become a far too important political development and, despite what is being said, governments increasingly want to control internet governance.

Agree with much of this Paul.
I mean, just because we sit at home alone, the idea that there's any privacy whatsoever on the net, (new age party line) is just a joke, but particularly for the very young, immature, self deluded; and or, the criminal hacker.
I mean, we have only been made aware of a thing called the Heartbleed bug, which has been there for at least a couple of years, ferreting through our files, extracting critical information.
If this bug, was the controlled product of just one single hacker, and he or she, was smart enough to keep each theft to just a few cents or a couple of dollars per month, from around a billion WW internet users, just how long would their activities remain in place and unnoticed?
And, how many billions could they have extracted?
And given they don't commit such petty larceny in their own country, what's to stop them?
This is why, we need a level of government oversight, or very friendly cop on the beat, in there and protecting all our dirty little secrets, from the grubbiest hands on the planet?
For mine, the only purchasing I do on the net, is with a re-loadable smart card, that has a very modest upper limit.
Nor do I place personal or critical information in my PC, but rather, rely on old fashioned paper, and personal visits to my bank, for most financial activities.
Moreover, I have repair discs, and can even replace all of my current programs, so therefore, can't be blackmailed into paying for my own files.
One thing I now have is time and or, boredom!
Besides, what mug would chose to waste their own time, with me, when their are billionaires, with less nouse or protection?
My single card is routinely checked by the distributor for unauthorized access; and, I can ditch it and replace it, in a heartbeat, if any hacker, thinks he or she can steal from me!
Consenting Adults don't need censorship, but we do need some timely protection, from our own stupidity!
