Reef hysteria : Comments

By Cliff Hall, published 6/1/2014

The nearest coral reef to the dredge site is 40 kilometres away; a fast boat ride would take more than an hour. Imagine trying to swim that distance.

It’s the media that creates “a lot of hysteria in the media” by listening to the ratty Greens and reporting their nonsense. Without help from the Left-wing media, the Greens would suffocate. If only the media could do what the rest of us do – yawn and dismiss the ratbags – the world would be a much better place.

NeverTrustPoliticians....that's a bit harsh, considering if the greens weren't there, everyone from top to bottom would all be rolling in money......is that a good thing? So the greens basic function is to slow down our need for greed or since we've only one planet...what would your division be, at the highest level of power?

No PLANET3, the Greens are there to teach our kids how to tell barefaced lies, with a totally straight face.

They are there to make power, land, water, & all the things everyone needs so expensive that many of todays kids will never be able to own their own homes.

Cliff I wonder if you have ever flown over Repulse Bay, running from just north of MacKay to the Whitsundays on an ebb tide. In the old days of TAA, when they flew a shuttle from MacKay to Whitsunday Airport by twin otters, you would regularly see the mangrove creeks of the area discharging more dirt than any dozen dredge sight, every spring ebb tide.

Hundreds of square miles would turn dirty brown, right up to Shute harbor. There would be a very sharp line where the dirty water was stopped dead by the tidal flow running parallel to the coast.

That tidal flow virtually stops much mixing between close inshore & outer reef waters. Don't try to tell the greenies that, it would spoil their day

“Everyone from top to bottom” wouldn’t be rolling in money. There will always be a gap between the rich and poor; but the money that is generated is what keeps the whole of Australia going, including all the social services the not-so-well off need. Without the rich, who pay most of the tax, the rest of us would be much worse off than we are. The Greens seem to want stop growth and wealth and take us backwards to a place Russia and the entire Eastern bloc were before the fall of Communism.

Even the Chinese dictators have realised that capitalism is the only way to keep the population happy; the Chinese Government is still totalitarian, but the Australian Greens want totalitarianism AND poverty, although there are not too many Green advocates who are not relatively well off thanks to the free enterprise system and the money makers they clearly hate. They are very strange people in my opinion.

Kipp, I don't know where you live but here in QLD it was LABOR that privatised all the utilities.

"""Without the rich, who pays the most of the tax" And all the {of balance)...I think at least one body, was interested in 75% of all grossed, that of the rich, some would say.
