Ukraine and Turkey: the European energy coup : Comments

By James Stafford, published 25/10/2013

If Ukraine can do a deal with Turkey it takes away Russia's ability to dominate it.

Portable energy is an economic weapon, and that, I believe, is how sabre rattling and dictatorial Russia, is using it?
Ukraine and Turkey might do a deal, if the OECD, will allow it?
The only real solution for an economically blackmailed world, is vast new oil and gas fields?
(Only economic morons would prevent themselves from accessing their own; but particularly, if there were a considerable body of expert opinion, pointing over many decades, to quite massive probable reserves!)
Only vast new fields and their development will put Russia on the back foot and forced like any other good capitalist, to compete fiercely for customers.
It would hardly harm our climate/environment, if those new finds enabled us all to reduce our carbon output by as much as 75%!
75% less carbon is more than realistic, due to the vastly cleaner nature of our traditional finds, and our ability to use them virtually as is, without needing massive energy inputs, to refine them! With consequent equally massive additional carbon outputs, the unavoidable refining consequence!
Alternatively, the Ukraine should get cracking, turning virtually all their biological waste into storeable scrubbed methane, (double digesters) and then converting that into energy, via the world's most energy efficient ceramic fuel cells!
Should they do just that, they will need to import far less than 40% from anyone.
If they add in all their food scraps/wastage at various convenient places in the system, they could create an exportable methane surplus!
Converting methane/biogas into energy via the ceramic cell method, is a chemical reaction rather than combustion! (the energy coefficient of 72%, massively reducing costs!)
Consequently, the exhaust product is mostly water vapor; the other main byproduct; endless free hot water, much of which could be diverted or used to heat sub zero Ukraine apartments, during winter!
Which is the usual time Russia starts her USUAL shenanigans, with guarantee of supply? At an affordable price!?
Where one nation leads with endlessly sustainable, cost effective alternatives, other even more pressed nations will follow!

Where does the Nord Stream gas pipeline come into this scenario?
