Labor's downfall was based on a growing elitism within the party, the promotion of an in-group over consideration for their wider support base, a self-focus seen as undermining the wider public good.

Accepted that the current situation is not as we think it is. We aren't governed, so much as forced to conform. Compulsory voting being just one element of the whole. There are others I suspect, if I am to sit and consider the issue.

So, the answer is as a group, (bearing in mind your view on "the crowd") do we the people repeat the lessons of Getup and Your Right To Work, knowing that there have been changes wrought though not admitted as having been the result of such movements?

Is the status quo "okay for now", okay for always"? Never okay? Is acceptance of the status quo likewise okay? Or is that acceptance also questionable?

Can we ever aspire to question the decisions, philosophies or actions of the elected members of the house? Is it right to question them anyway, or should we sit back and say "try again in 3 years"?
