Gee, I thought that lefties like Marika hated Imperialism, and one would have thought that she would give the western powers a kiss for driving out an imperial conqueror and creating nation states from colonial provinces. Marika claims that the Poms and the Frogs got it all wrong when they drew up the new map of the Middle East. What a load of crap. All of these countries are cursed with multiculturalism, with religious, tribal, racial, and clan loyalties all intermixed, and the only way the western powers could have created monocultural entities was to have 200 new "countries" instead of half a dozen. Maritza believes in multiculturalism but the Arabs sure don't.
The Saudis demanded that the new state of Saudi Arabia should include all of Syria and Iraq, based upon the fact that they roamed all over the damned place on their camels. The Poms told them to POQ. The Hashemites in Jordan demanded that the British toss the Saudi usurpers out of Mecca and put them into power. These characters could not agree on what to have for a halal breakfast, much less where their borders should be. Want to start a dozen wars? Ask the Arabs to define their own borders.
If the Arabs think that the Poms and Frogs got it wrong, well, they are supposed to be big boys now who can negotiate with each other on who owns what. But they can never do that. They will just keep on killing each other while Maritza reflexively blames the white guys.
It all comes down to the trendy lefty formulae, white guys are always to blame, minorities are never to blame. That sure looks like racism to me.
