Psychoanalysing psychiatrists and psychologists who torture : Comments

By Robert Burrowes, published 9/9/2013

Fundamentally, perpetrators of torture are terrified and they are particularly terrified of those individuals who perpetrated violence against them when they were a child.

The article has an inaccurate title. The title is "Psychoanalysing psychiatrists and psychologists who torture". Psychoanalysis requires input from the subject. The author provides no evidence to substantiate his claim that torturers are different from the general population. The Milgram experiments showed that most people will torture if ordered to do so by an authority figure. There are few exceptions. A more accurate title would be "Speculations on the background of psychiatrists and psychologists who torture". Unfortunately one can make money by writing articles which psychoanalyse at a distance. At least olo didn't pay for this nonsense.
