And Tony will eventually realize that when all the Catholics migrate to the Vatican, these social ills will greatly diminish.

When Phoney finally release his costings, we'll get a glimpse of the future. Later, should he be elected, an audit will free him up to slash and burn much like Attila the Hun!

Phoney believes in the law of the jungle, the survival of the fittest (for fittest read cunning and unscrupulous), and that 1% of people should end up with most of the nation's wealth. Like Howard, he will make life easy for the greedy and punish those whose minds embrace caring and sharing.

Yeah, advantage the rich and punish the poor is the foundation stone of the Coalition.

What a sick world we live in!

While the Coalition, Murdoch media and to a lesser extent the ALP love to demonise the unemployed, all three are rampant cheerleaders for policies that are guaranteed to increase unemployment and underemployment.

The bleeding obvious reason many people are unemployed and underemployed is because there are fewer jobs available than there are people to fill them. The now unavailable jobs have either: been casualised; gone offshore; been slashed by public service cuts and other austerity programs; disappeared along with now defunct manufacturing industries; been victims of corporate takeovers and mergers; been superseded by technology; or been located in regional areas repeatedly ignored and overlooked by city-centric government policies.

Another major reason for increasing unemployment, which successive governments and media organisations have never acknowledged, is that employed people are being forced to work longer and longer hours for no extra pay out of fear of losing their jobs - thus taking away potential working hours from the unemployed and underemployed.

But the political parties will keep pumping billions of taxpayer dollars into policing and punishing the unemployed for a situation that was never their fault to start with. Demonising the unemployed is not only stupid, it's expensive.

My guess is we can expect fewer people needing welfare under the Coalition.

...There was a time when the unemployed were forced to travel to wherever there was a job: Now a 457 visa holder does it for them!

...Wonder if there is any money in waxing surfboards?

As a former Housing Commission tenant and member of the Labor party, could I say that the Liberal attitude to welfare bludgers is absolutely correct.

The primary reason for poverty and unemployment is low intelligence. Generally people with low intelligence are unreliable, dishonest, violent, do not worry about their health, imbibe to excess every type of legal and illegal drug, and drive like the idiots they are. But most of them are smart enough to know that they can get almost as much from welfare as they can from doing a low paid job which is all that they are capable of doing. Why work when you can sit on the dole?

The Holy Grail of the professional welfare recipient is the Disability Pension. This absolves the recipient of any obligation to look for work or to report their attempts to get work. There are now 700,000 disability pensioners in Australia which has a population of 23 million. That is more casualties then we suffered in every war that Australia ever fought in. You don't need to be a Mensa from the local Audobon society to figure out that something is fishy. Even Lexi, David G and Poirot could probably figure it out. Well, with a bit of coaching they could probably fiure it out.

Poor people with brains will get work, get out of the rut they are in, and become upwardly mobile. It is the job of governments to aid the deserving poor and to help such people to get jobs and become self sufficient.

There is also a huge problem with imported people who's culture and intelligence levels make it almost impossible for them to get a job. This is the reason why certain cultures and ethnicities have very high rates of welfare dependence and very high rates of criminal behaviour.

Why we are importing people into this country who are going to be nothing but a burden on our productive people for generations to come is beyond me. If we want to solve poverty and crime the first thing to do is to stop importing it.

LEGO,
My boss, well, high ranking bureaucrat & Labor supporter is in favour of bringing more boat people into Australia as their taxes will then pay for our pensions. Is that Labor's vision also ?

Hi Individual.

The new Labor heartland seats in Auburn, Punchbowl and Bankstown have the highest levels of long term unemployed in Australia. Afghans have an unemployment rate of 92% and Iranians 95%. So your stupid boss should re think that one.

The is a close correlation between welfare dependency among some immigrant groups and serious criminal behaviour. Perhaps your boss is hoping for a crime boom so that the Australian government can create more jobs in the every expanding police, judiciary, legal services, and prison services?
