By Alex Kats, published 6/8/2013

I think some of the disrespect comes from the lay-back, casual Aussie vernacular.

A thoughtful article. Democracy should be able to evolve and improve in Australia. MPs should be able to vote as individuals on issues not covered by their party platforms - this would assist in reducing corruption within political parties, as well as eliminating the contradiction where parties in a democracy are operating like dictatorships or oligopolies within the party structures. Voters should also be better educated about how Australian democracy operates. In moving towards a republic, these issues should be debated, along with constitutional reform and a bill of rights.

there is nothing wrong with the political system

what is wrong is the apathy of us australians

the majority chose to be silent
while the minority stridently pushes its agenda

eg?

a. the greens
b. the gays
c. militants and religious extremists

just look at the european countries
in the name of "openess" "gracious society" "freedom of speech", they took in huge numbers of new migrants

now realised that they allowed the Trojan Horse into their country. Midday prayers spilling in the streets in defiance of laws.

too late....
