I think there is no clear extression of what "no advantage" actually means because the government is too ashamed to spell it out. The underlying logic is - people will rot in offshore detention centres for as long as they would have spent in the imaginary overseas "queue". Because there is no queue, no-one can know how long that is.

It's a bit like Kafka, but without the ironic humour.

The Marilyn Sheppard's of this world may despise the white western civilisation that they choose to live in, but it is obvious that every other dysfunctional person on planet Earth can't wait to gate crash a Western country and avail themselves of the welfare benefits which do not exist in their own particular countries.

The "Weekend Australian" even claimed that middle class Iranians are pre booking their berths on Indonesian fishing boats in advance, as if they are going on holidays. Want to go to Australia and get a new house, $A10,000 bucks cash, a Medicare card, and a food hamper? Just head for your local travel agent and have a nice voyage.

The Aussies are so nice they have even put their navy at your disposal to help you if your rented vessel gets into trouble. The Iranians may hate the Great Satan America and it's lackey's like Australia, but like the western self loathers, they still want to live with us.

It is interesting to speculate on the mindsets of the Marilyn Sheppard's of Western civilisation. Perhaps they just think that white people are wealthy because they are the oppressors of every other race? So, in their minds, it is only justice that the poor victims of white oppression should barge into white countries and demand that the whites atone for their collective sins? The whites must support anyone who makes it into any western country. The serious social strife and economic bankruptcy which will follow is what the whites deserve for being oppressors, stealers of entire generations of children, and genocidal colonialists.

Marilyn may not be able to make everyone in the world rich, but she sure as hell can do her best to make everybody poor.

The Communists in Vietnam got a lot of prestige from their own people for being nationalists and patriots. Now it looks like it is the turn of right wing parties to do the same in the western world, and those parties are thanking Marilyn and her comrades for their new status

Not so hard really.

In theory, it means that those who bribe, bully and barge their way to our shores will have no advantage over those who stay(ed) offshore in refugee camps.
In practise, it has come to mean bugger all since a only half-committed-to-the-idea govt hoodwinked and hindered by a fully-committed-to-frustrating-it phalanx of advocacy groups continues to water down its provisions.
