'Nazi' is no laughing matter : Comments

By Vic Alhadeff, published 3/6/2013

US radio host Rush Limbaugh popularised the term 'Femi-nazi' to denigrate women's rights activists, while People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals ran a 'Holocaust On Your Plate' campaign.

Dear Vic,

Anything can be a laughing matter. That's one way in which humans survive.

Two Jewish partisans are sitting next to a detonator set to blow up a car in which Hitler will be riding. The time for the car to pass arrives and no sign of Hitler. they wait for hours and no Hitler.

"He's very late. I hope nothing has happened to him."

Mel Brooks made a movie which poked fun at the Nazis. Napoleon was a ruthless monster, but there is a delicious pastry and an excellent brandy named after him. Alexander was also a ruthless monster - an unimaginative sod who wept because he had no more worlds to conquer. He couldn't think of anything else worthwhile to do yet he has the sobriquet of 'the Great'. History cloaks horrors with the softening of time.

Some of my relatives were murdered in the Holocaust. I cannot bring them back or reverse history. It is offensive when people use the word, Nazi, casually, but I am alive and can laugh.

Yeah Yeah, the broken record that is Anti Fascism, we get it, words have consequences, ...or not, in the case of the English speaking world since we managed to withstand the temptation of Fascism.
We didn't start the "Nazi" pop culture memes, Jewish entertainers did, if serious minded anti Fascist Jews are getting upset about it at this late stage of the game it's too bad, they've spent 60 years telling us what a joke Hitler was and now want to complain that Hitler and the Nazis are joked about.

David Rockefeller bragged about his successful promotion of the feminist movement since he now through the debt based money creation system, had two tax payers from every family to pay back debt to their elitist private scamming system.

The world debt is now $40 trillion with a GDP of $70 trillion.

If you don't understand how this system works, just ask me and I'll explain.

"Words mean, exactly what I say they mean, nothing more, nothing less"

-Humpty Dumpty. "Alice in wonderland."

I find it amusing that this author is so absolute in his detestation of "Nazis", that he objects to any suggestion that people should use the word "Nazi" as an amusing and descriptive metaphor. Perhaps we should create a 1984 type department which invents "newspeak" words, and eradicates words that are politically incorrect? Any words which define concepts which the self appointed keepers of the gate of all that is good and holy, prefer that we should not think about, they should have the power to destroy.

I understand the French have a department like that. Outraged at the creeping influx of English words into the sacred vocabulary of the French, the French have created a government department to think up "French" sounding words in opposition to perfectly good English ones which are already in circulation. I wonder what is French for "megabite" and "Ipod"?

Descriptive and vivid nouns, verbs, adjectives and expressions do have a tendency to be artfully used in ways in which their originators never intended. That is one of the beauties of language, poetry, and descriptive thinking. And that is how language evolves.

The word "racism" once had a very precise definition, but the artful use of this word in so many situations beneficial to liberal thought, has seen its meaning change right out of all recognition. It's present definition could easily be defined as "any attitude which contradicts the attitude of a liberal".

I couldn't work out whether this qualifies as a laughing matter or not...

Definitely sad, though.
